Topic: Teamwork and Motivation Organization Motivation Plan Achieving high job satisfaction To get productivity that is high, job satisfaction, motivation and employee turnover are very important factors that has to be considered so that productivity can be realized. Employers have to be innovative and always look for new ways that are aimed at increasing the job satisfaction for their employees so that the businesses that they conduct can remain as competitive as possible. The economy of the world these days is characterized by consumers that are very discriminating and this has gone a long way in placing demands that were not there initially on the employers. The employers therefore face the uphill task that needs them to preserve the productivity and profitability that they have while trying their best to keep the employees that they have engaged and satisfied with their jobs. Researchers have been able to find that the social or cognitive construction view of job satisfaction deals with the effects of emotions on behavior of various kinds where the attitude that people have toward work can be associated with other perceptions about jobs such as the variety of tasks that constitute that job and the level of skills that are needed for one to be able to do that particular job. Therefore, it can be said that emotional responses may be of assistance in the determination of the reactions that the employees will have to the jobs that they are doing and the general theories of emotion might become useful in the effort to understand the attitudes that people have towards jobs (Furnham, 1992). Creating job satisfaction is therefore an endeavor that entails several steps so that in the end it can be achieved to make sure that the employees are motivated and this will be the first step in increasing the productivity. To start with, the working environment should be made to be positive where the factors that motivate the employees will be identified so that the working environment will cater for the needs of the workers. The employees of WooWoo will be entitled to discounts in the case that they need to purchase any thing that the company makes provided that they get it directly from the company. The company will also make sure that it organizes get-togethers were the management and the other employees can have the chance to interact and the views of the employees can be listened to and adjustments made if possible. The employees that have an exemplary performance at work and those that beat the deadlines that are set will be recognized through a program that will be aimed at identifying the employee of the month and the reward among others would be getting the parking spot that is nearest to the offices that will be reserved for the winner of this challenge. The views of the employees will be considered in case there needs to be any improvement on the products or the way that the company is run by the management team. This will be done so that the engagement of the employees in what they are working on can help them to improve their satisfaction in the jobs that they do. Trainings and education on various issues will also be a frequent arrangement so that the employees can develop confidence in the work that they are doing and also make them more productive and innovative. Achieving Low turnover Low turnover will be achieved through training programs that will be aimed at reinforcing and increasing the sense of value that is possessed by the employees and also make sure that they the goals that are set for them while having a concrete understanding of what their job requires. A mentoring program will also be initiated and it will be complimented with feedback is goal-oriented so that the relationships that exist in the company will be made stronger so that the employees do not get the urge to leave. The company will also make sure that the hours that the employees are supposed to be working are practical so that they can be able to balance their own lives and work through allowing them to have weekend offs and extra holidays if need be. The employees will also be motivated through rewarding them so that they can be able to perform more highly and a sense of responsibility will be bestowed upon them so that they are able to own the results that come out of the work that they have been able to do. Achieving High productivity To increase the productivity in the company, the workers will be encouraged to embrace teamwork so that they can be able to work together towards a common goal that is the success of the company. To be able to realize the best effect in the team building, it will be important that the sense of team effort be built even before the employees start their work at the company or before they start the task that is allocated to them. The best way that this can be achieved is organizing situations that the workers can be able to meet in an environment that will be freer than the normal confines of the offices and where they can be able to act naturally and be themselves. This will go a long way in making sure that the employees will be at ease with the situation that they will be in and they do not have to be afraid of the commanding structure that exists in the office. The company will make sure that the teamwork is carried out in a good effect so that the sense of togetherness will in the end be part of the culture of the workers and make sure that cooperation will be permeated through the ranks of the entire organization from those that occupy the senior ranks to those that are in the junior ranks. This will be aimed at making the employees understand that the efforts that they put into the success of the company no matter the position that they hold in the company will go a long way in making the company become more profitable. The teams of workers will be divided into small groups that will be considered as a team each so that there will not arise a situation that the team s that should be working are too big to a point that they cannot be monitored. The strategy that will be employed will be one that will see that everyone is engaged and that there will be little room for wasted in terms of time and the skills and talent that the employees possess so that this can be able to improve the overall productivity. Achieving High-quality work The employees will be motivated to continue producing work that is of a high quality and to improve the quality of work that they have already been producing by being given opportunities to take part in the training programs that will be offered by the company so that skills that they already possess can be improved. This improvement of skills will go a long way in making the output that comes from these employees better while at the same time making sure that they feel more confident about the quality of work that they will be producing. As said earlier, they will also be rewarded so that they can know that when they produce work that is of a good their efforts will be rewarded and appreciated and this will encourage them to put more effort in what they do. Methods of motivating all of the employees in the organization A company may not be in a position to motivate all the employees that it employs irrespective of the efforts or the methods that it will decide to employ towards achieving this goal. Some firms end up opting to use threats of sacking the employees as a form of motivation to make them work and achieve the goals that have be prescribed for them to achieve. They do this so that they can be able to put the employees that are disgruntled in check so that they may not be in a position to make the other employees lose the motivation that they may be having especially in situations where they have to work to cover for those that are disgruntled and therefore not performing to the standard that they are required to. The employees that are disgruntled have to be motivated to that they do not decide to leave the company and seek employment in other places which will not be of benefit to the firm. The bad attitude that this disgruntled employees have should be identified and efforts to change them for the better initiated as soon as possible so that it does not poison the other employees that have a positive attitude towards the jobs that they were hired for.(Madura, 1998). One way to make sure that the employees are always motivated is to ensure that when there is criticism that is supposed to be directed at a particular employee, it is done orally as opposed to having it done in writing. However, when an employee has done a task in a manner that warrants praise, then this recognition should be done in writing to make sure that the employee has understood that the appreciation for the achievement was noted (Lauby, 2005). Incentives have always been a sure way of rewarding achievement and motivating those that have not reached these achievements to work harder so that they can be entitled to them too. The company will make sure that it recognizes achievements through these incentives that will rarely include money since they will be based on privileges that will be accorded to those that will earn them. Ways to motivate the minimum wage service worker Minimum wage workers can be motivated to work harder through giving the ones that are newly hired proper training in the jobs that they will have been hired to do so that their job satisfaction can be increased and the turnover reduced considerably. They can also be provided with a positive work environment where they can be able to work while enjoying the atmosphere that they are working in so that they can also increase the customer relations. Offering them carrier advancement opportunities will also go a long way in motivating these minimum wage employees since they will be more effective if they know that there are greater opportunities to advance their careers that the can be able to get. Relevance of the individual worker in today’s organizational context In today’s organizational setting, the individual worker or employee is considred and rated more highly than in the times that have passed. This is because in this era of job specialization, there are cases in the work place that can only be handled by the people that are specifically mandated to perform the tasks that will be associated with those cases. It is also easier for the individual worker to rally support from the fellow workers in the cases where their intersts are not being met compared to the older times when it was relatively difficult to get any backing as far as fighting for rights was concerned. This skill levels that these employees possess are also of a higher standard which make them assts to the company and therefore they must be treated with the respect that they deserve.
