Use of Cafe in the College of Business INTRODUCTION This report involves a survey done to gather information on the feasibility of starting a café in the college of business. The survey was aimed to get the patronage of the college of technology students about college of business as the location of the café, the payment method, the products and prices. The survey was conducted on February 2013 by use of questionnaire as data collection method. The sample size surveyed was a total of two hundred and twenty five potential customers. The total respondents of the survey were two hundred and twenty five people. Among the respondents were sixty nine staff members and one hundred and fifty six students. Among the students, 15 are freshman, 25 are sophomore, 43 are Junior, 64 are Senior and 6 are Graduate Students. From the analysis above, we noted that the largest population of the college of technology is dominated by senior students. From the data obtained we can know the group of students and staff that uses the café and this will help in deciding on amount of food staff to prepare and time. USE OF CAFE IN THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS From the survey we found that seventy one of the two hundred and twenty five respondents currently use the Executive Express Café in the College of Business. Among those who currently use the café in the college of business, twenty two are staff members and forty nine are students. On how often do respondents who visit the café in the school of business, 57 respondents do use the café 1-2 times a week, 11 uses the café 3-4 times a week and only three use it a week. This is represented below. On analysis of the purchases made by the respondents, 35 do purchase pizza, 10 purchase Chips, 14purchease Muffins/Bagels, 17 purchase Salad Sandwiches, 18 purchase Cookies/Treat Bars, 12 purchase Yogurt/Pudding, 16 purchase Fruit Cups, 42 purchase Coffee/Specialty Drink and 29 purchase Bottled Drinks/Soda. From this data the most purchased is Coffee/Specialty Drink. The table below shows a breakdown of these results. product Number of people Pizza 35 chips 10 Muffins/bagels 10 salad 14 sandwich 17 Cookies/treat bars 18 Yoghurt/pudding 12 Fruit cups 16 Coffee/specialty drink 42 Bottled soda 29 Conclusions about Current Usage In conclusion we noted that about 32 percent of the college of technology faculty and staff do currently use the café in the college of business. These results give us an approximate of 480 people from college of technology who currently use the café in college of business. Concerning the data collected to determine how often people of college of technology do use the café in the college of business, I do conclude that most people visit the café twice a week. In detail it is 80 percent of those people who use the café in college of business using it 1-2 times a week, 15 percent 3-4 times a week and 4 percent use it 5 and more times a week. Basing on exact estimates, of the approximate 1220 people from college of technology using the café currently in college of business approximately 976 use it 1-2 times a week, about 183 use it 3-4 times a week and approximate of 51 people use it 5 and more times a week. The number of people using the café from college of technology are fixed customers on the lower limit and taking the café services closer indicate that more people are likely to use it. Based on obtained data the most popular product is coffee/specialty drink and the least popular product is chips. This information is useful in the decision making because the supply of is products is taken into consideration. If here is enough supply of most popular product or even in excess it is most probable to start a new café in the college of technology to sell more since the consumers are readily available. INTERESTED IN USING A CAFÉ IF IT WAS LOCATED THE COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY If the café was located in the college of technology, 183 of the 225 respondents from college of technology would be using the café. How often will people of college of technology use café if it was in their college? 41 percent would use it 1-2 times a week, 33 percent would use it 3-4 times a week and 9 percent use it 5 and more times a week. In comparing this information with the one when café is located in college of business we can see that there is increase in number of users from college of technology if café is located in their college. Conclusions about Demand In conclusion from the data obtained it is clear that about 34 percent of the faculty/staff from the college of technology would use the café if it is in the college of technology. The total number of people from college of technology who would frequent the café is approximately 1215 people. In the breakdown of how often would college of technology people frequent a Café in their college? Results indicate approximately 615 people would use it 1-2 times per week, 495 people 3-4 times and 135 people 5 or more times a week?
