National Quality Forum for Measurement Introduction Like many other organizations, National Quality Forum for Measurement (NQFM) aims at developing clear understanding in respect to specific areas of research whilst advising on the best study practices. In addition, NQFM is involved in dissemination of information to national organizations in public, private, and governmental sectors Qualityforum.org (2012a). This is in respect to exploration of the national quality and performance improvement initiatives.

The following is an analysis of the NQFM towards Hospital Measurement Schemes whilst discussing its charter, past impact, as well as future plans of the organizations in carrying out reforms within the mentioned sector. Charter National Quality Forum for Measurement, otherwise known as National Quality Forum was founded in 1999 in order to fulfill three core purposes or missions. Firstly, the organization is mandated to build consensus on various national priorities as well as goals for the sole purpose of improving performance through partnership.

The second purpose is to endorse national consensus standards that are necessary in measuring and reporting openly performance of various organizations and sectors Qualityforum.org (2012a). Lastly, NQF promotes attainment of national goals via enhancing outreach programs as well as education. In order to support improvement, NQF has various portfolios of carrying out endorsements on performance measures, which are vital in quantifying healthcare processes, perceptions of patients, outcomes of healthcare practices, as well as organizational systems, structures, and operations that are congruent to high-quality care Qualityforum.

org (2012a).Past Impact Some of the past impacts of NQF include the following amongst others Qualityforum.org (2012b):Ad Hoc review based on the discharge of Statin Medication, which is the preferred standard Identification of 67 total measures for public quality as well as accountability especially in relation to cancer care, non-medical doctor, surgery, infectious diseases, and anesthesia amongst others. In 2002, NQF developed core set of 29 measures of improving quality coupled with 8 measures for accountability in various areas of outpatient that included influenza immunization It standardized the ambulatory care performance through three phases In 2004, NQF organized a workshop on behavioral performance, which is directly related to healthcare performance and qualityIn 2002, the organization started the Cancer Care Phase I, which has changed the perception of cancer and patients.

Future PlansIn future, NQF has various projects, which are underway and need to be completed as soon as possible in order to ensure that there is quality and performance within healthcare. Some of the projects, which are underway include Qualityforum.org (2012a): Reviewing of the Ad-hoc in order to attain more expansions for the setting Conducting the Phase I and II of behavioral health, which has continued to pose great challenge in the healthcareEndorsing care coordination maintenance Adopting the increased and developing technology in coming up with Electronic Quality Measures, otherwise known as eMeasures Through 13 diseases, NQF attempts to develop efficiency in usage of resources within healthcare facilities.

These future plans are likely to affect the quality and performance of healthcare especially with introduction of efficiency in resource usage as well as eMeasures that will enable organization stop the tedious work of manual measurement of quality and performance.
