Extract of sample "How Do Leaders Capitalize on the Potential Advantages That Diversity Brings to the Workplace"

“Effective diversity and inclusion take advantage of individual and group differences by harnessing them in the service of productivity” (DTUI, 2008). The diversity of age in the workforce provides the leader with the opportunity of in-house schooling of the young and inexperienced employees. Leaders capitalize on the diversity of age by providing inexperienced employees with frequent opportunities for interaction with and learning from the aged and experienced employees. Employee training and development of the employees’ competence is one of the fundamental prerequisites of the attainment of organizational goals. Companies incur a lot of cost by arranging the conventional vocational training and competence enhancement courses for their workforce. This cost can be avoided by making use of the in-house sources of knowledge for the enrichment of the young and inexperienced lot. A leader uses cultural diversity in the workforce to increase the consumer base for the company. The more diverse the workforce is cultural, the higher the population of consumers belonging to different cultures becomes. Thus, leaders can make use of the diversity in the workplace in positive ways to attain their objectives.
