Implementation of Infrastructure and Network Design for It in a Financial Environment Abstract The aggregate price levels of all the commodities and services have been soaring since the last 30 years. It has become extremely difficult for contemporary business firms to generate economic surplus from the current crisis market. Economists and academic researchers have claimed that human wants are unlimited while resources are very scarce. Thus in this epoch, one of the pivotal tasks of every business organization is to allocate the productive resources efficiently and effectively. Technological inputs are most expensive among the gross inputs required by software companies. So it becomes highly rational to analyze the ways by which a company may efficiently allocate its technical expertise. The purpose of this research is to find a cost saving solution for a company that would help it maintain the optimal network communication. If this is not analyzed, then improper network communication would augment the revenue expenditures of the company and take an extensive time to execute the tasks (Gershenfeld, 2000). If it is not sustained, it will surely create problems in the overall operation of the company. An inefficient communication network will increase the employee working problems. Due to impending difficulties, the workers would delay in accomplishing their work and get frustrated in their professional life. Significance of the Problem The information technology (IT) sector is grossly responsible for the growth of the global economy since 1980. Efficient IT in U.S. is responsible for its competitive advantage over many economies in the world. This division has not only helped in the development of military segment of U.S. but has also helped for the industrial progress of the country. Since 1990, the Internet has become a popular topic of public discussion forums. Business firms and individuals have started using computers for both information manipulation and communication. This has augmented importance of IT in the economy. The information learned from this research will help any IT company to set up an appropriate communication system that would, in turn, serve its smooth operation (Samuelson & Varian, 2001). Statement of the Research Question The research question for the project is: Q1. Will an efficient and optimal communication network help a company reduce its gross cost and save more money? Q2. Does improper networking result in extensive time and revenue expenditure for a company? Data Sources In order to show the empirical relevance of the research, the researcher has introduced a primary survey, which encompasses a questionnaire session to a random sample of 37 IT professionals within the age group of 18 to 45 years. Instrument Reliability The sample chosen for the questionnaire session is not stochastic in nature. The result and conclusions will be same, no matter what random sample of individuals is drawn from the IT market. Instrument Validity The researcher will not alter the validity for the sample survey. The sample will be 100% valid as per the mentioned features. Survey Questions The researcher may add this additional question: Q1: What is the speed of your processor? Option 1= less that 3 GHz; Option 2.66 = greater than or equal to 3 GHz. Distributional Method The survey questions will be distributed to the IT professionals through SurveyMonkey or any other popular websites. Treatment of the Data The researcher has used an analysis of variance (ANOVA) test to compare the means of different random samples drawn from a normal population. The test will help to determine the most important factor that influences efficient communication networking among computer processors speed and Internet speed. For this, the questionnaire survey is conducted with a sample of 37 IT professionals. Hypothesis Ho: Internet speed is more important for efficient communication networking, than computer processor speed. H1: computer processor speed is more important for efficient communication networking, than Internet speed. Results The results can be found with suitable statistical software. Discussion The survey primarily included all the professionals working in the IT sector. These individuals are technically skilled and will provide the best responses that would be most useful for proving the required hypothesis. Most of the individuals in the sample were professional above 30 years old; this shows that the questionnaire is answered by individuals who are experienced in the IT field. More or less, the average usage of air card and wired networks are same showing that both these companies are equivalent to the IT professionals. Most of the professionals have said that when their communicational networks are smooth, they are able to download 5 files of more than 2 MB per day. Almost all the individuals run queries in their databases to accomplish their work. Most of the respondents have claimed that their computer processor has a speed of 2.66 GHz. They have sent files more than 200 MB and have stressed using high Internet speed of more than 10 megabytes. This shows that the individuals attach considerable importance to Internet speed for an efficient networking communication. Most of them have stated that they primarily do not execute their office works at home. They often consult the IT help desk to resolve any impending software problem. All have said that if the Internet speed of a communication networking is good, that firm can complete its tasks faster (Khosrowpou, 2003). Conclusion A company needs to realize that the essence of optimal cost-saving communication networking can only be experienced if the officials maintain prolific Internet speed in their computers. Although the processor speed can also help to achieve smooth communication networking, it would be more expensive for a firm to upgrade its computer processors. Using high speed Internet connections is a cheaper and more efficient method (Doyle, 2000). Recommendations The researcher may use varied samples to judge the desired hypothesis. Moreover, the cost and time required for primary research are also very high. It would be of great convenience if the researcher could access some reliable secondary data. Apart from good Internet speed, the researcher must find other factors that might determine cost-saving smooth communication networking. References Doyle, S. (2000). (1= air card, 2 = Wired) How often files larger than a 2 MB attachment are sent during a work week (1 = 1file per day,1 = 3 files per day, 2 = 5 files per day) Do you run queries on databases to get your work done? (1 = Yes or 2 = No) What is the size of the largest file you have downloaded for the last two days? (1 = greater than 200 MB or 2 = less than 500 MB) What is the current Internet speed you work with? (1 = 10 megabyte or 2 = 20 megabyte) What is the speed of your processor? (1 = less that 3 GHz and 2.66 = greater than or equal to 3 GHz). Read More
