Admission to Business School The purpose of education is to fill one’s empty mind. These were the words of Malcolm Forbes. Although, holding expertise in IT my wish is to complete my MBA from a reputed B-School in India. I am a graduate in Computer Science and Technology and have been working for a reputed IT company in Bangalore. Since childhood I’ve excelled in studies and secured good grades throughout my academics history. I am a very ambitious person and I would like to fulfill my dream of completing my MBA. Once I complete MBA I want to become an entrepreneur and start my own IT consulting business that provides IT related solutions to problems faced by businesses. I believe that this is the best use I can make of the education I will have obtained once I finish my MBA. In this way I will be able to combine my knowledge and experience in IT with knowledge of the business environment. I am of the opinion that to be a successful entrepreneur I require an understanding of how the business environment works and how to be successful a successful entrepreneur. For that I require an MBA degree from a reputed university in India that will equip me the necessary tools to accomplish the challenges that lie ahead. In my opinion personal ethics should always be the most important determinant of one’s actions. Some may argue that in the workplace professional ethics gain more importance but I do not share the same belief. A person should only work in a place if they feel comfortable working there and the job that they do does not come in conflict with their personal ethics. For example normally a job requires a person to obey the instructions of their seniors without any objections. It is part of professional ethics to obey one’s seniors. However what if the person holding the senior post asks their junior or subordinate to do perform some job that is unethical or against the law. The subordinate’s personal ethics do not allow him to be part of unethical acts however their professional ethics require obeying their boss. In such a case the subordinate should refuse to obey their boss and reject their instructions. In case the subordinate is put under pressure or threatened to be fired then they should better resign than succumb to the pressure of their boss. In the professional world these things do happen. One must try to avoid such situations but if there is no way to avoid them then it is better to quit then violate one’s personal ethics. Our personal ethics are developed overtime from what we learn from our peers, parents, society and school. Our personal ethics stay with us throughout our lives unlike our professional ethics that finish once we are retired or no longer working. So I believe that following our personal ethics must always remain our utmost priority. As I mentioned earlier I am a graduate in Computer Science and Technology and have 3 years of job experience. In my opinion even if I require an MBA degree I would still need to have experience of the professional world if I want to be successful. In the professional world it is not just our academic qualifications that count but good companies nowadays require job experience form their potential employees. As I have worked for 3 years for an IT company in Bangalore I believe that I will be at par with other students even though I do not have the same academic background as they do. I am a very bright student and I believe that I will be able to adapt very quickly to the change in curricula from one related to computer science to the other related to commerce. In my school, college and the university from where I graduated, I was among the top few students of the class. All the accolades and good grades that I have received can be rightly accredited to my hard work. True, I am a bright student but nothing is achievable without hard work. Even in XYZ Business School I will continue to work hard and try to make up for my lack of commerce education. I believe that through hard work anything can be achieved and through my hardworking nature I plan to quickly adjust to the standards of XYZ Business School. I am a friendly person who likes to establish good relations with their peers. I am proficient at using a computer and can solve most computer issues easily. Today’s world is the world of computer and technology. Businesses today are switching to computerized systems from traditional manual systems. I have a sound knowledge of many computerized systems and the many organizations that have switched their operations to computers. As I have been in the industry for 3 years I have an insight on the latest technology and the technological solutions that are most successful for a type of organization. Due to my knowledge of IT I will add a new dimension to the classroom. I believe that I will be able to bring quality information to the classroom and also help my fellow classmates in their problems. Due to introduction of computers in the workplace it has become increasingly important for a business student to understand the importance of computers and the role of technology in an organization in achieving its goals. I am of the opinion that I will be able to add value to my classmates’ knowledge by providing them with relevant and valuable information about computer technology and its implementation in a business. From an academic point of view I have proven to be a studious, intelligent and hardworking working student. I have always achieved top grades in all my classes and have been awarded with many accolades in the process. My teachers hold me in high regards and praise me for my hard work in their subjects. Due to my various achievements in academics there is no one achievement that stands out from the rest. Throughout my studies I have performed consistently and hence was able to graduate with a degree in Computer Science and Technology. I am what I am today because of the hard work that I have put in my studies and achieved so much success in academics. I have always liked helping other people. I believe that it is in my nature to help others hence I was involved in many community service activities in my school and college. As there are so many community service activities that I was involved in it is very hard to single out one extraordinary achievement. I hope to help the community once I complete my MBA by solving IT related problems of people and organizations alike. Professionally too I have achieved a lot. It is indeed an achievement to be employed with one of the best IT companies in India at such a young age. I call this an achievement because it is very difficult to get a good job in the IT industry and that too with such a well reputed company. While working for the company I have gained valuable experience not only related to my area of expertise but also about how a company works in the practical world. Working with the company for three years has allowed me to build contacts with many people in the IT industry who are helpful in times of need. I have also established good working relations with my peers and bosses. I hope that XYZ Business School accepts my candidacy and enroll me in their reputable institution so that I can pursue my wish of completing MBA and becoming an entrepreneur. Read More
