Energy in Food Lab Practical Conclusion Figure Bar Graph showing Energy Content with individual standard deviations The plotted bar graph in figure 1 gives a pictorial representation that helps in comparing the energy content of the three food types. Mushroom has the most energy content, among the three food types as shown, by its pervasiveness based on the number of longest bars. Mushroom has the longest bars, with 3000 kj/g being the longest. Oil has the second largest energy content as shown by the bars, which are shorter than those for mushroom but longer than bread’s. Bread has the least energy content. This is illustrated by the shortest bars indicated in the bar graph. However, the graph shows that bars for bread and oil are almost equal for most of the data obtained. This is an indication that the energy content for the bread and oil are almost equal to each other than when compared to mushroom; and vice versa for oil and mushroom. Consequently, it is confirmed that among the three food types, oil has the intermediate energy content while the rest of the two are in the extremes. The results above, especially that exhibited by mushroom, can be explained on the basis of calorie content in this food type. Normally, mushroom has few calories as evident in less fat contained and hence the volume. Further, mushrooms are free from fat and cholesterol thereby leading to high energy content as compared to oil that contains more fat (Kapoor & Alyona, 23). In the case of bread, it has the lowest energy content because it does not contain fiber. The absence of fiber makes this food type lightweight. Further, bread does not contain any nutrient. The amount nutrients, such as carbohydrate and protein, also explain the difference in energy content of the food types. Protein and carbohydrate are burnt and in the process they produce energy. Food with high content of protein is likely to have higher energy content than that without. The t-tests were carried out to show whether there is significant difference in the average energy content of the food types as show: Figure 2: Table showing t-Test: Two-Sample Assuming Unequal Variances for bread and mushroom   Bread (+/-0.5) Mushroom (+/-0.5) Mean 454.1188 1418.792 Variance 122845.3 584508.6 Observations 8 10 Hypothesized Mean Difference 0 df 13 t Stat -3.55085 P(T Read More
