10 March MJ reflection week 7 Attitude and motivation are significant to people’s dedication and efficiency towards desired objectives and were significant to my understanding of the materials. My experience with genetics knowledge and my interests in microbiology moderated my attitude and motivation to find the materials interesting and easy to understand. I have sufficient background information on DNA, RNA, and protein creation, as well as possible defects that could arise from changes in DNA arrangements.

Even though I was not well informed of the dystrophin gene, my knowledge of DNA patterns ensures familiarity and the length of the dystrophin strand captured my attention learn more about it. With my positive attitude towards genetics, I have an intrinsic motivation to understand information about Becker muscular dystrophy, its genetic cause, and possible management. I am even motivated to cross reference for clarity of some information in the text that appeared challending (The New York Times 1).

Based on my positive attitude towards genetics, seeing the DNA artwork captured my attention and I sought and succeeded in understanding the artist’s motivation and achievement in developing the art. I also understood, based on the artist’s success, that local researchers can used people’s preferences for DNA patterns to understand behavioral orientations, and I plan to implement this in future (The Telegraph 1). The text, ‘a hidden genetic code,’ is however less attractive due to its lack of graphics, but the desire to figure out genetic information and configure involved patterns motivates me to read though it and I have managed to synthesize the contents (Reuell 1).

My experience with knowledge on genetics and my interest on gene patterns has therefore influenced my positive attitude towards the materials and motivated me to understand the material’s contents.
