Other teaching resources included in this concept comprise games, group discussion activities, activities based on the web and general ideas of fundamental biological areas, for example, common delusions, major theories, and recommended learning activities. These activities will enhance learning and remembrance. The only bias will arise in believing that all members of e.g. a group discussion are at per. The level of students’ commitment in each of the learning method will determine its success (Pugesek, 2003).
Roselli (2011), describes six activities that can be used by instructors to enrich their teaching and understanding of introductory biology lessons. For undergraduate students, these systematic activities should begin with an introduction to natural selection (Roselli, 2011). It should encompass what natural selection is in simple terms and how it takes place. Discuss in details the sexual selection and molecular evolution as the second and third activities respectively. The fourth topic should entail the evolution of compound traits followed by a fifth topic on the evolution of behavior. By doing this, students will have a chance to perceive how natural selection works in different perspectives (Roselli, 2011).
Testing involving pre- and post-instruction showed a substantial increase in students’ perception of natural selection after these learning successions were completed. Continuous testing through the unit proved a continual rise in student understanding. Assessments showed students relished the activities (Roselli, 2011). Nevertheless, the method does not incorporate hands-on involvement of the students in activities such as group discussions. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

..., and to what end such a life should serve. Although rather well defended, this particular theory is replete with flaws, non-sequiturs, and a litany of other logical failings. As a means of shedding a level of inference with regards to this particular topic, the following analysis will seek to discuss the moral of the nations of Darwin’s fear he of natural selection. One of the issues that creationists and individuals that believe in intelligent design point to as a shortcoming of natural selection is with respect to those organisms or systems that are highly complex and in which partial inadequacy of function would preclude natural...

...Running head: Natural Selection s 17 April 2009 Natural Selection Natural selection is very closely related withevolution, natural selection involves heritable traits with the help of which organisms survive long enough and reproduce and this is exactly how their population remains stable. Natural variation also plays a pivotal role in natural selection; natural selection is the chance of survival among organism. Natural selection is a very important process with the help of which a key...

All organisms share a common ancestor and hence certain common features. 3. The process of change is a gradual one 4. The mechanism of evolutionary change is natural selection. Natural Selection

... Biology Topic: Natural Selection--describe how and why natural selection is an important concept in Evolutionary Biology The effect of natural selection is at the level of the individual. Natural selection plays the important role in shaping the individual genotype. George Christopher Williams in his book “Adaptation and Natural Selection” writes, “The contest was decisively won by natural selection, in my opinion, when by 1932 the classic works of Fisher, Haldane, and Wright had been published.” (3) Acceptable evidence is not forthcoming in support of other systems of evolutionary change or any other genetic system of adaptations. Thus natural selection in shaping life... and...

...Biology 1108: Natural Selection Lab Homework Assignment Introduction The definition of natural selection is; differential reproduction and survival of living things due to their existing physical conditions/attributes. The theory of selection is attributed to Charles Darwin evolution theory. In His theory, Charles Darwin defines selection as the process of the functional relationship that exists between phenotypes and fitness. The fitness in this context is defined by three different kinds of curve which include; directional selection whereby the traits of a given organism are related to fitness linearly, stabilizing...

...of design in nature. This relates to the patterns as discussed by Eldredge in the sense that when a certain species is bred with another one from different part of the world, it leads to creation of new patterns of species that are well adapted to the environment. 3. Why might the idea of natural selection be considered a dangerous idea? It is a dangerous idea since it bases its argument on the ground that species once developed or created can never transform which is not correct. For instance, gene duplication is able to form different species resulting from the same parental organism mainly because of polyploidization. 4. Find one example to illustrate how the...

...parts. Organisms within the ecosystem have been affected by the oil spill in the sea. The spill has created unfavorable environment that has rendered survival of various organisms difficult. Level of threats Notably, the spill of oil in the Mexican sea poses immense level of threat to the plants and animals that cohabits within the marine wetland and other ecosystems. The level of threat is evident since the oil has been affecting the growth of natural resources such as tress, grass and others that acts as homes to certain animals, death of the plants, and contamination of the environment (Pallardy, 2014). The oil has been contaminating water that provides primary productivity incentives relied upon by the many species...

Course Concept Redesign

...Concept Redesign The redesign will provide new with a sufficient foundation for taking other advanced biology courses, as well as related studies. The redesign aims at improving learning using technology including creation of YouTube video and blending it with theory-based learning. The chosen concepts for the redesign are greenhouse effects and climate change. Uploading of high-quality video that present a theory-based lesson on greenhouse effects on YouTube is the first step in the design. New students can then watch and download the material, which boost their conceptual understanding of the greenhouse effects. In addition, the new...

Natural selection

...Natural Selection Natural Selection By definition, genetic variations constantly occur within populations. This makes some members of the populations to be better suited to the prevailing environmental conditions. As a result, such better suited populations adapt faster to the environment, while the members with lower adaptability are selected against through the process of natural selection. In Drosophila pseudoobscura, heterozygosity and homozygosity is a common occurrence on the third chromosome. In natural settings, variations in the constitutions of the genetic makeup of the organisms vary from one...

...Topic redesign The topic that I chose deals with gender inequality. In order to locate the resources that provided mewith the information on it, I decided to use different serves by Google. At first I used Google Books to locate reliable printed materials, such as books. Then I used Google Scholar to locate articles that were printed or published online. Finally, I used the search engine to find web sites that dealt with the topic. The first source that I found is titled Gender Inequalities in the 21st Century New Barriers and Continuing Constraints and was written by Jacqueline L. Scott, Rosemary Crompton, and Clare Lyonette. I think that this book will provide me with a broad perspective on the topic. The second source...
