Genetic testing is basically a most modern technique of checking genetic disorders in which direct enzymes and other proteins have been taken. Genetic testing is used for various reasons that are career screening, pre implantation genetic diagnosis, prenatal diagnostic testing, newborn screening, genealogical DNA test, predictive and pre symptomatic testing, forensic testing and parental testing. There are various types of genetic testing that are newborn screening, diagnostic testing, carrier testing, prenatal testing, pre implantation genetic diagnosis, predictive and pre symptomatic test, forensic testing, parental testing, research testing and pharmacogenomics.
Newborn screening test is done just inspection of DNA molecule, proteins and definite metabolites have been taken for the detection of hereditary diseases such as genotypes, mutation and phenotypes. Biochemical tests are also included in genetic testing in which microscopic testing of stained or fluorescent chromosomes and gene product as after the birth of baby for checking genetic disorder phenylketonuria (mental illness) and congenital hypothyroidism (disorder of thyroid gland). Diagnostic test is a genetic testing can be done in a whole life of a person. It is done when physical mutation and its symptoms appear. Carrier testing is done to check in both of the parents who carry genetic mutation and after checking that the tests give information regarding the risk of having a child with the same genetic mutation. Prenatal testing is done before the birth of child. It detects transformations in fetus genes before the birth of child. After this test people gets information regarding the risk to having baby. In addition, after that test they decide whether to give birth to baby or abort. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis is done on human embryos in vitro fertilization process. Predictive and presymptomatic testing is done to check that type of genetic mutations that appear after birth such as cancer (Sequeiros and Guimaraes, 2008). In predictive testing, the tests give information regarding the developing chances of the same mutation, which your ancestors (genes) have but not find in you while testing. In presymptomatic test, the test give information that genetic mutation will appear in the person or not. Forensic tests are done for recognizing the person uses DNA sequences such as for catching the thief and for creating relationships among people e.g. paternity. Parental testing is used for recognizing the similar inheritance pattern among related individual by using DNA markers. Moreover, through these DNA markers u can easily test the parent individually. Research testing is done to know that how genes work. Pharmacognomics test is done for checking the changing in genes after using drugs. A normal human may have 20,000 to 25,000 genes in their genomes. A little mutation in the genes may result in cancer or could be as little as retardation (Imgargano, 2009). Genetic testing has many types. Among these types, the commonly known is the parental genetic testing, which involves the detection of any genetic mutation before the birth of the child. However, the detection method is quite risky and can be a reason for the miscarriage. Introduction: Genetic testing is the possible future tool for the medical care. If advantages are considered, the genetic testing may be a helpful tool in recognizing a person’ ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

At first, I thought 6 of pages is too much for such a question. But now I see it could not be done better. As the author starts you see the complexity of the topic. I’ve read all at once. Perfect document

Genetic testing/Genetic Screening

...makers, but also by every other human on the planet. Prenatal genetic testing Prenatal genetic testing and screening is performed to establish whether the fetus has any chromosomal abnormalities and whether or not there is a chance of developing a genetic disease later on. Parents can make well informed decisions on whether they wish to continue with the pregnancy or not. It involves harvesting of fetal tissue to analyze DNA for prediction of a disease risk or genetic abnormalities. Amniocentesis and Chorionic Villous Sampling are techniques through which fetal tissue is harvested for genetic testing....

They are described as learning disabled, as their overall intelligence is at least at the low average range but they have specific strengths and weaknesses in their cognitive learning ("Cognitive Development Characteristics", 2009). Cognition is also affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), seizure disorders, anxiety, disorders in speech and language, sensory motor problems and other factors ("Cognitive Development Characteristics", 2009). Genetic Testing

...Genetic Testing The paper will throw light over the use of Genetic Tests by employers and business organizations to predict the likelihood of genes that could lead to reinforcement of certain diseases (curable or incurable) among recruited employees and potential job candidates. The writer will then raise his most concerned argument and ethical considerations in the light of Utilitarian and Deontological theoretical concepts of business ethics. Genetic Testing refers to the use of medical tests through which doctors could predict the occurrence of genetic disorders that increased the risk of developing certain physical diseases detrimental for a person’s health and mental well being. Indeed, employers are also inclined to conduct... these...

Genetic testing

...Genetic Testing or DNA based Test, examines genetic disorders through DNA molecules. By taking out several chromosomes, doctors detect which disease the patient is likely to get in the future. Not only that, genetic testing enables infertile women to give birth to a child. This is one of the most recent discovered tests that require high quality of information and technology. Even though it is one of the finest medical tests humankind ever came up with, there are plenty of drawbacks of implementing genetic testing right away. As a result, it has ensued a worldwide debate...

...Familial genetic testing assignment: Type diabetes Diabetes is a chronic condition that induces high levels of blood sugar. It results from abnormality in body function as beta cells fail to secrete insulin, a chemical that regulate the quantity of glucose that is released into the blood system. The insulin deficiency has two effects in the body, it reduces the body’s ability utilize glucose to generate energy and reduces the body’s ability to control the level of glucose in the blood system. This report aims at creating awareness of the disease in our family and it focuses on genetic and environmental determinants of the disease. Genetic and environmental factors are...

First, the revelation of such information could cause an individual his/her insurance. In some cases, persons identified as having defective genes are denied health insurance covers. When such information is revealed after the cover has been issued, the affected individuals may be dropped from their health plans or medical expenses for their genetic conditions struck off the plan (Christians, 2005). In addition, children of parents with defective or ‘problem’ geneses may not be covered because of their higher risks of contracting genetic disorders (Comfort,...

Genetic Testing and Genetic Engineering

...Genetic Testing and Genetic Engineering Genetic testing and genetic engineering were always areas of acute and deep interest regarding its implementation and ethical issues. It was a question that, on one hand, could help to resolve many issues within the levels of society and humankind. On the other, it was always a sphere of some fear and observation it as attempts to become God-like – and thus such attempts are not righteous and would be punished.
