Extract of sample "Intelligence and Wisdom"

Even though he was the chief law enforcement officer for the state of New York and was supposed to be a role model for all New York citizens, he broke the law for his own self-interest. That is not wisdom. What is more, as attorney general of New York he spent a lot of time increasing the penalties for prostitution, a crime in which he participated. Not only is that unwise, but that is also hypocritical. Spitzer's judgment was clouded by his own lust and his feeling that he was special and that normal laws did not apply to him.

Perhaps he thought that way because all his life he had always considered himself smarter than everyone else. He probably thought that no one would catch him because he could always outsmart and out-argue them. He was wrong. He lacked the emotional intelligence to understand that he was hurting his family and his career by taking such large risks.
