Atmosphere and body movement How people are moving, act in the space and create atmosphere for the space As d, people’s movements and actions within the space are dependent on diverse factors. These factors include but are not limited to the presence or absence of physical restraints, motivation to achieve a goal, and energy in the body to make the desired move. One school of thought holds that movement of people from one place to another including how they act within the atmosphere is fueled by the Kinesthesis sense. The sense enables individuals to internalize data and move their body parts in various directions (Massumi, 2002, p. 1). It also fosters individuals’ understanding on the location of their body parts and which part to move at what time. Firstly, the sense gives people the opportunity of knowing the designation of all their body parts and the activities they can facilitate. They also know the way the body parts move, their effectiveness and how to act in response to stimuli. The process is actualized through sensation and perception that facilitates processing of sensory data and interpretation to give credible meaning. The brain processes the information taken by the eyes and the body produces reflex actions as well as coordinated movements to respond to the external stimuli in a way that makes it the most convenient for the body to move in the given space and the challenges contained therein. Therefore, the elements greatly influence the direction of movement in space. Atmosphere has a direct as well as indirect influence on body movement. For example, while an individual enclosed in a closet or a lift has very little room to shift from one place to another and thus cannot make significant movements even if the individual desires so; an individual hiding underneath a tree holding onto its trunk chooses not to make significant movements while an earthquake is happening in an attempt to keep safe and not catch significant harm. The difference between the two examples is that in the former, atmosphere places direct restrictions on the movement of the body whereas in the latter, external stimuli and factors contained in the atmosphere indirectly restrict the movement of the body. The restraints in the first example are mechanical or physical whereas those in the second example are abstract and a result of the interplay of the mind and body of the individual in the scenario. The relationship between atmosphere and body movement can be elaborated with the help of another example; an individual may see an object from a distance through light reflection and develop interest in acquiring it personally. The processing of that information and the development of the decision to have the item makes him to change direction of movement and action. The cause of such movement can be said to be the sensation of light waves. The sensation of sound waves also holds the capacity of influencing movement especially in circumstances when danger looms, or a valued event is taking place within the space. Therefore, Kinesthesis forms a major cause of body movement within the space in facilitation with sensation and perception processes that take place in the brain. Creation of the atmosphere of the space is based on the connection between movement and sensation. This is evident since space is made up of things such as light and waves that are instrumental in fostering human well-being within the atmosphere. Interaction between human and environment within the space The term short that exhibits the link between humans and the geographical environment is “human and geographical” (Liu 2008). The term is sometimes used to indicate the link between human beings and nature. Humans have an ever-lasting relationship with the nature and it is the very relationship that lays the foundations upon which all other relationships are developed in the day to day life. The process of use and change of the physical geography by humans equates to the process of evolution of the link between geography and humans. The relationship fosters as a result of the social development and interplay of the productive forces. The nature of the interaction between humans and environment is dynamic and marks the progress of the awareness of humans and the society at large. Humans respond to the signals generated by the environment in a variety of pathways that include but are not limited to migration, failure or collapse, and invention led by discovery. Extreme drought triggers ingenious water management by means of irrigation as well as migration of humans from one place to another. The response produced by body to change may alter feedbacks between social systems, climate, and ecological systems, thus giving birth to a complex array of multidirectional relationships in space and time (Costanza et al. 2013). Producing of suitable responses in the future and feedbacks within the interconnected system of humans and environment is based on the understanding of humans of the past as well as their consciousness to adapt to the challenges of the future. The interaction between individuals and the environment is related to the connection between movement and sensation that is instrumental in creating the atmosphere of the space. Movement of people’s body parts and positioning within the space that aids interaction is determined by a crucial sense known as Kinesthesis (Massumi, 2002, p. 1). The sense facilitates easy movement within the environment that is characterized by various objects and architectural structures. It explains the linkage or connection that exists between human beings and place. This is achieved through receptors for the generated senses that are found in the muscles and tendons of human beings. The senses enable people to internalize and understand what happens in the space where they exist. In particular, the sense of balance enables human beings to be acquainted with the information pertaining to where they are in space (Massumi, 2002, p. 3). The sense also helps them to connect and understand what happens in their surroundings such as creating of awareness when someone is standing, riding a roller, or failing down. Indeed, the sensor system that is called the Vestibular system is essential since it creates the perfect interaction between individuals and the environment thereby limiting the levels of confusion. The sensation of the atmosphere is vital as it helps individuals translate their movements into a medium of light and waves. It facilitates the transmission of the sensory signals and detection of stimulus. It also reports the proprioceptive data that is essential in the context of movement (Davis, 2008). The information influences how people perceive things; focus their attention, view past experiences and expectations within the space (Massumi, 2002, p. 5). People feel and receive information differently and that influences the direction of their movement within the space. For instance, when two people look at each other clear changes in perception are recorded as the brain processes the data despite the constant nature of the sensory information that flows to the eyes. The performance of a complex task beyond the normal level while the body movement is retained and creates divergent perceptions. Just as the principle of light and waves, kinesthetic sense causes different ways of movement through perception. The interpretation process and outcome of what people feel, and see the principle of light in their brains influence how they react to certain conditions within the space. Their movement and actions are directly proportional to the sensation of the atmosphere that affects the perception of form, materiality, and immateriality within the space.
