It becomes clear from the above discussion that the importance of adding foreign language courses to the American schools’ curricula is hugely important in the present age of globalization. English is the most popular language which serves as the platform for learning things and communicating in a global forum.
Unnecessarity for English Learners Becoming Perfect Speakers of the Language
While it is true that the world is becoming increasingly globalized and multicultural day by day, it is not true that the significance of speaking English perfectly has faded away.
But sometimes it becomes necessary that a person has to learn some other language apart from his mother tongue; this usually happens when the person has to move to some foreign country for further studies or for the purpose of job. At this point he has to learn the language no matter what difficulty he has to face because without having the knowledge of the language one cannot speak and communicate with the people of that country and he would have to face much more difficulty surviving in the new country with new people around him.
Many factors have been pointed out as the cause for this language’s decline one of which is the Irish famine that lasted for 7 years (1845-1852). The Irish famine was a period of immense hunger in Ireland as the potato crop failed resulting in the death of up to 1 million people.
