Proposal (Name) (University) Proposal When I first decided to take photographs, my main aim was to have fun as it was my hobby. Over time however, different shots of the photos I took gave me so much satisfaction that I wanted to share my view of the world with other people. It has always fascinated me how capturing moment can have so much meaning and even more to the people who see it. It allows others to behold the sight just like you were able to only that they will see it in a picture. They can be able to live through your eyes. It has been a silent way of communication for me given that no words need to be uttered. By sharing these pictures, they can almost see what you saw and appreciate it. If the viewers of the picture can see what the photographer intended them to see, then the photography can be considered a success. The art of photography can be mastered by anyone as the technical aspects are quite easy to grasp. The real and meaningful photography that is capable of evoking emotions lies in connection between the subject and the photographer. A good picture will be determined by what the photographer finds pleasing in nature. If a picture is taken just for the sake of the having a picture at the end of the day, it may be great in terms of quality but the ability to capture someone else’s attention might be hard. I once captured a sunset and the picture was breathtaking. Being able to witness the changes in the weather and capturing them was so beautiful my significant half wanted to watch the next sunset. My aim here has been accomplished. I have been able to evoke a reaction out of my audience. I hope to encourage people to travel more and explore the world. It is a beautiful place out here and there is so much to be seen in a whole lifetime. The world has so many beautiful and unique places and people it would be impossible to fully exhaust all of them. For the busy people, my pictures are meant as a discovery. These can help people discover of people and places they previously thought never existed. It would also save them the time of going online and searching for exquisite places to visit. I also offer free marketing for the different places as the pictures create an urge for people to see it for themselves. I can refer to myself as a goodwill ambassador. I plan to put this plan into action by creating a blog where I will share these pictures. It will be a great platform as it will attract people from all walks of life who would like to appreciate my work, those who are in search of great destinations as well as those who are into the art of photography and would like to polish their skills. It will also be a chance for me to learn more and discover various platforms of like-minded people who can share ideas as learning is not a destination but a journey. Mini Exegesis The art of photography has various aspects that are put together in order to create the final picture that will be appealing. Color is one of these aspects. It may be an aspect that just exists in our day to day lives. When it comes to photography, it has the ability to shape our perceptions and affect the way we react to it (Rutter, 2016). The knowledge of the nature of colors has an impact on the photographer that allows him to capture an image in such a way that will give the image meaning in terms of expression as well as create an effect. The colors have a psychological effect that is capable of creating different impressions of two similar pictures differentiated by the colors. A photographer therefore has to learn the different colors and manipulate them to his advantage in such a way that allows him to represent a given scene that is inviting to the viewers as well as give them a personal feel and view of the world. One who has mastered the aspect of color effectively has the ability to expand on their creativity and discover on the reasons why some color scenes work perfectly when others don’t. This is especially important as people view the image as they automatically have their perceptions in place of how a certain image should look hence anything contrary to what their mind has been conditioned to expect may not be readily welcomed. These perceptions are deeply influenced by culture and personal associations (Schneider, 2012). If a green sky was to be presented, the most immediate expectation is a blue one. This idea is already fixated in the mind. The green sky is seen as being fictitious which totally goes against the aim of photography as it is aimed at bringing life into the pictures. Lighting is another important aspect in photography that helps determine the appearance of the image. Understanding the direction in which light travels will help one better understand the most suitable position of capturing a shot. The direction of light will dictate the texture and form that the subject will appear (Digital Camera World, 2013). Different lighting sources will also affect the appearance and mood of the images. Lighting in a picture has various elements attached to it that need to be controlled to the required threshold so as to acquire a quality image. Exposure controls the amount of light that can be captured in a photo and how it can be controlled. Too much light might create shadows and darken some parts of the image leading to obscurity whereas insufficient light might affect the natural color of the image (Rowlands, 2013). Quality is another element that measures whether a photo is ‘soft’ or ‘hard’. It is the ability of one to discern an image to be either ‘cool’ or ‘warm’. The trick is to find out the most suitable light in a given situation to come out with desirable images. Natural light is the best form of lighting but can be disadvantageous at times of too much sunlight which may cast shadows. Photographs have continue to evolve from when they first started in the 1800s (Archambault, 2015). From black and white to colored and digital now, the evolution has seen endless improvements over the years. The transition from pinhole cameras to digital cameras in the new age has been a journey and along the way that has seen the refinement in the quality over the years (Andrews, 2015). Although the advancement in photography, one cannot ignore the pre-culture of photography where the pictures were a cherished memory and their most common form was in hard copies. To date, photographs taken in black and white still remain as unique pieces. They have not outgrown and may not in the years to come. This is a reflection that the pre culture is carried forward to future generations enabling them to appreciate where photography has come from and get a chance to really appreciate the journey. For instance, the first colored picture if compared to the pictures of today, the lighting, colors and even texture would be different if the same picture was to be taken today. The amazing thing about the revolution is that with the advancement in technology the sharing of these images is instant. One does not have to be physically available to access the picture as it is just a click away. In my project, I intend to intertwine the pre culture and the new culture. This will allow me to fuse my ideas from the past to the new. I want to do photography that inspires people and makes them remember the past while appreciating the new age. This will avoid the erosion of the photography culture as I would like the upcoming generation to be able to experience the journey that is photography. This way, the culture will be preserved and even with new advancements, there will be still an element of culture. The numerous programs that allow images to be edited adjusting aspects such as color and lighting (Gernsheim, 2016) have been beneficial and to the 21st century photographers which in my opinion has taken the opportunity for them to work hard in really capturing the moment. The previous images took a lot of hard work with targeting the perfect lighting and visually discerning the colors to come up with a masterpiece. References Andrews, E. (2015).
