There are many elements contributing to the art and this makes it difficult to define art. Art is one of the conditions of human life. There is integration of art in most communities. Each community has their own unique art and ways that they communicate the message of the art. Painters are artists who take the responsibility of shaping materials, techniques, ideas, and feelings to express their feelings (Beckett and Wright, 12). There are things in the world today that relates to art. Posters, portraits, paintings are a few of the elements that indicate that art is important to the lives of most individuals. Art is in different forms, and it exists in unique ways. Children believe that drawing is an art and adults believe that acting is a form of art. The paintings have an important role in our societies. Life is a struggle and individuals face challenges. Paintings illuminate human life and indicate efforts to find meaning of lifes existence. Paintings are filled with inspiration, imagination, and forces, individual to think. Paintings do not have a voice that they use to communicate with individuals. It forces, individual to think beyond their boundaries and use their imagination. The paintings have a direct relationship with individuals who are viewing. They allow individuals to experiment and bring new fundamentals to art. Paintings may not have voices, but they are crucial to the development of the society (Beckett and Wright, 16). It creates a sense of happiness to the individuals viewing it and shows the artists thoughts and vision. In addition to, paintings help members of various to view the world from a positive perspective. This approach helps to enrich the lives of the community members. Are the interpretations of paintings are important to the development of the society ? Human beings have evolved with art in their cultures. In ancient time, early man drew on walls of caves to indicate paintings play a major role. They planned hunting by drawing paintings on the wall. Consequently, most individuals cannot understand why they have a love for paintings. They convey diverse messages when interpreted. Paintings decorate places like houses and artists use paintings to express their freedom. Paintings and writings have the same effect on the society as writings. The paintings move individuals on an emotional level. Furthermore, it touches the viewers on an inner level (Beckett and Wright, 25). Is the interpretation of the painting considerate? Analysis and interpretation of paintings are an important factor in creating conversations with paintings. Individuals always ask questions about the paintings they view. The point where viewers engage their emotions with paintings is important in the development of the art. They engage the paintings in conversations and decide whether they like it or not. It is interesting and important to analyze a painting because it helps to know the idea the artist had in mind. The names of the painter, origin, condition of the painting are some of the basic facts used by individuals to interpret paintings. The famous Pablo Picasso did Guernica painting of 1937 and it is one of the most famous paintings. Most experts feel that the painting has many meanings and they are not clear. The painter is talented and he uses his creativity to describe what was happening around him at that time (Robinson&Picasso, 98). The talented artist left his work open for analysis and interpretation by experts. Analysis of his work indicates that the role of war in Spain during his time. The artist clearly indicates bullfighting in Spain. Bullfighting in Spain was incorporated into the culture and it was attracted many individuals. The artist lived in Spain and he was requested to use his talents in the World Fair Paris of 1937. Furthermore, Picasso lived in one of the areas that were targeted by terror suspects. Picasso painted the picture in relation to the wars that were happening in the area. In one of his statements he argues that his life is filled with a lot struggle for art. In the picture that he is painting he states that he is worried. He was worried of the military standing which caused deaths in the country (Robinson&Picasso, 118) The painting offers the viewer a chance of imagining what the place felt like during the painting. Guernica is a painting done by the Picasso that was done during the war. It offers an account of the effects of war on men and women at the time. It offers a visual account of the devastating impact the war in 1937. The artist completes the painting during a time when there was political unrest. There was tension in the area and it affected the civilians and the whole community in general. The world war had not yet began and the paining in some way showed what individuals would expect in the world war. In the painting, there are victims who have survived the bombing. What does the painting symbolize? In relation to the painting, we see that there are individuals who are dead. There is a figure in the painting which signifies a corpse and it is surrounded by alive victims. The victims are in pain, indicated by the wailing individuals throwing their hands and holding their heads in agony. In the painting towards the left, there is a woman holding a baby and wailing. The baby seems to have died in the attacks on the region. On the other side of the picture there is an individual who drags a deformed leg. Critics argue that the deformed leg symbolizes the injuries that happened after the attacks (Robinson&Picasso, 108) There is an individual who is holding his head in sorrow. The individual is sorrowful of the attacks that happened in the city. In the picture, there is an individual that looks like a woman. Furthermore, the individual seems to have died in the bombed building and her head is her spirit. What do the items in the painting mean? The rampaging bull in the painting is a symbol of darkness and brutality the individuals faced with during the attacks. According to the painter, the horses symbolize the people of Guernica. The painting has received numerous interpretations and most of them tend to lean towards brutality of the individuals living in the area. The animals are used metaphorically to represent the innocent villagers.The painting is done in a monochrome; it is done in black and white. There are many questions as to why he did the work in black and white. Theories have been developed to try and explain in details the reason the painter did the work in black and white. One of the suggested reasons is that the lack of color meant to symbolize a gloomy atmosphere after the bombings. Black and white in the painting helps to emphasize the silence of the piece. It is like the events that happened during the war were frozen in time. There is a lamp at the top of the painting which gives the viewer the idea of the sun. The lamp is a clear symbol of the sun. Most critics feel that the sun brings warmth and daylight in the day to day situations. Contrarily, in this situation, the sun cannot bring daylight in the area. The sun does not offer hope to the individuals during this time of war. Political instability in Europe is indicated by the painting done by Picasso. It is evident that human beings and animals are used together to indicate cubism. The background of the painting is filled with geometric shapes that gives a reminiscent of cubism. It is represented by a bull because of the frequent bullfightings in the area. The bull is a symbol of Spain and Picasso in a silent way tries to convince individuals never to give up. The bull stands strong and the matador is dead in the background of the picture. The horse is also dying, but the bull, remains strong and peaceful. Berger is a critic in the field of art who has a unique way of analyzing pieces of art. He focusses on the role of art in the society. He compares the role of men and women by use of images. The metaphors used by Berger enable viewers understand the role of gender in a different level. Berger argues that men and women need to be linked with images that represent their roles in the society. He believes that men should bring traits that will help the world develop (Berger, 19). On the other hand, the society expects women to observe their actions and present an image that is acceptable in the society. The society assumes that men are important depending on what they have to offer to the society. According to Berger, Women are intensively scrutinized by the society ad they ought to monitor their actions before they are judged. The interpretation of the Guernica has fallen to the expectations of Berger. There is a woman in the society holding a baby and wailing. It means it is the responsibility of the woman to take care of the society (Berger, 19). The cultural beliefs influence how we interpret art in the society. It is the main reason the painting by Picasso has different roles for men and women. Picasso portrays the role of women, according to the Spanish culture. The interpretations of the paintings are the expectations of John Berger. It is because the woman is performing the duties the society expects from her.
