Sherlock Holmes MovieIn contrary to David Stratton, I believe the movie is a success and out of the norm. The action orientation in the film is well depicted by the different characters and would attract an audience of all age groups. The idea came from the great and the less significant works of others, showing just how deeply rooted the character is in the hearts of the world's people. The detective is a great fighter, and hence film uses this idea to put his skills in the forefront. However, the fighting sequences also provide further insight into Holmes' thought process when he explains just how he will subdue his opponent.

I think the production design and the rating scores are perfect just as David Stratton commented. Although Guy Ritchie's direction and Hollywood convention prevent the film from being successful, Sherlock Holmes has all the great features and components of successful adaptation. The film becomes more interesting and unique when it comes to the mystery with the two solving a global crisis rather than a smaller scaled crime. I feel like there were some important details that the movie did not show in the film as in the book.

The way Holmes used his wits was clearer in the book and made things more interesting. Several excellent points in the style depicted in this film are well brought out. More importantly I think the violent scenes did not change Holmes' smart and witty ways but in added to it. However, I thought it should have added a few more details about Holmes and how he thinks because some were so random and displaced. Conclusively, the design of production and high rating is a great deal. Thus, the character is superbly represented while the film's editing, plot, and overall direction are exquisite enough to call this successful adaptation.
