The Nativity with the Infant Saint John is a circular painting belonging to a category that Pero di Cosimo called the tondo. It is a unique painting of the 1500s, which received popularity in the Renaissance period. The painting signifies an intriguing cosmic harmony and reflects eternity and divinity. The painting has other symbolic items such as rose, rocks, dove, and bud, which represent different instances in the life of Jesus (Geronimus and Piero 166). On the left side, Piero di Cosimo reflected the life outside the house with different animals grazing outside in the open fields. Beside Mary is an angel who also kneels in respect before the infant Jesus. In an effort to complement the circular painting, the left has a serene landscape in which Piero di Cosmo made use of rolling contours.
