Theater Course Reflection - Essay Example

What I learned from this class is that while an individual is performing on stage he/she does not have to think that he/she is acting and is being evaluated. Rather, an individual should think that he/she is actually experiencing an event or a situation taking place (Cameron 237). Furthermore, I learned that while acting an individual needs to be completely involved in the character that they are trying to play. In order to be involved and get into the character an individual needs to have a good amount of knowledge about the character. This knowledge includes how the character talks, how the character feels and the kind of personality that the character might have in the real life. When I was asked to play a character, I was quite nervous in the beginning especially because I had a crowd evaluating me. But later my instructor told me to forget the crowd and feel as if I myself was experiencing a situation and from that very moment, I gained confidence and realized acting was all about being in the situation.
