Billy Lo Kristen T.Woodward Art 400 12-6 After Albright Artist’s ment It is usually confusing to find a definite direction of style or subject matter to focus on for an upcoming artist. After going through several ideas, I came to realize that what interests me the most are the experiences I have had while abroad living in different towns and cities. Coupled with inspiration I draw from Robert Spencer’s works, I decided to make painting of cities and towns my line of artwork. In my paintings, I will expose the beauty of these places and how bustle and hustle of people evoke the beauty and value of everyday life. First, east or west, home is still the favorite, so I will start by painting my home city Hong Kong. I will then paint Canada Newfoundland where I took two years of high school, Seattle, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, San Diego, and finally Pennsylvania. Therefore, I will have seven paintings each representing the above-mentioned places. I paint because of my passion to exploit and expose the beauty that is before us, but people rarely notice. In my work, I communicate the energy and exciting nature of my subjects by use of vibrant colors combined tactfully to create exemplary compositions. My desire to paint these places is brought by what I have felt, seen, and experienced while staying in the different towns. Additionally, I am interested in exploring human emotions, and thus, this is another area that I focus on in my artwork. My goal is to become a professional renowned artist and inspire other young people in my community who are interested in becoming artists.
