Art appreciation: oral exhibit report In accordance with arts, it should be noted that the knowledge of creative art in all field need to be appreciated. There is need to recognize and understand the timeless quality that identifies great art (Beigel 2). It is stated by arts professionals that the more people are involved in understanding the art of different eras, the more they improve on artwork (Beigel 2). Arts appreciation can be grouped under arts movement, styles and techniques employed to create the artwork (Beigel 2). Following the art historic timeline, it is proper to briefly focus on explaining some of the most important art movement and styles following their order of arrangement. This will also include regard granted to prominent artists and illustrate their contribution in the field (Beigel 3). Self portrait as part of art work bears a perfectly self-explanatory title by just looking at the structure which depicts its name (Beigel 3). The portrait on discussion and which will be appreciated is an excellent art work with a picture of Piper (Beigel 3). In the portrait, Piper is drawn with the artist revealing her noise being broader, lips fuller than they are in reality (Beigel 3). The portrait of Piper also demonstrates a voluminous luxuriant afro hair similar to the actual hair cover of Piper (Beigel 3). On the same portrait, there is minimal showoff attack on the racial stereotyping (Beigel 5). This is to despite the ironic theme of the drawing. The portrait cannot be treated as just a mere plain work of art but as a tool for searching responses to racism (Beigel 5). In appreciation, the portrait also reveals the sense of emotional works which is directly revealed on the female face. To begin with, the title of the art is self explanatory relating to what the name exactly says. The facial presentation of the drawing shows a direct gazing which seems to be symbolic of how her art confronts society in everyday life (Beigel 5). Piper is the only figure the artwork. The entire portrait only reveals the face, hair up to the shoulders. The portrait posture faces the viewer as the body is grounded at the surface of the portrait (Beigel 8). With her face rough and massive, there is no addition distinct expression on the face of the drawing (Beigel 8). In addition to this, the use of the lines on the drawing is exposed of being heavy, dark and thick. The contours are designed to openly reveal the face to be a woman due to its shape and features added (Beigel 8). Moreover, the texture displayed in the portrait by the artist is totally uneven as compared to other standard portraits. This is because the woman skin as per the portrait is relatively soft yet not silky and exhibiting hair that is tough and fizzy (Beigel 8). Nevertheless, the only distinct spatial characteristic which the artist added was to illustrate the portrait in two dimensions. This was achieved by creating lines and shadings the artistic facial appearance of the drawing. Notable to mention is that there is no any other face in the portrait apart from Pipers picture. The background of the portrait is plain white making the viewer not to pay attention to it completely (Beigel 8). When it comes to the mass of the portrait, the art work demonstrated reveal is perfectly stable and open to the viewer. It is further represented by models facial features which seem truly convex and opaque due to the effectiveness of the shading and color changes (Beigel 8). Despite the art being black and white portrait, it is evident that black color is dominant. This influences color mutation to grey and then to a white background (Beigel 10). In addition to the mention colors, the artists did include some of the brightly contrasting colors in the facial part which collectively makes the entire portrait more expressive (Beigel 10). It should also be realized that the artist deliberately refrained from making the portrait appear more harmonic and soft through employment of gradual color transformation (Beigel 10). Furthermore, there are very few spaces left within the portrait since the entire two dimension drawing covered almost every space (Beigel 10). This is very important since viewers only focus on important positive space as the empty unfilled spaces are relatively employed to show boundaries of a central sole shape (Beigel 10). The art is appreciated for demonstrating an illusion to time and motion (Beigel 15). It is pretty clear that the artist never placed any reference to what the portrayed one is surrounded with (Beigel 15). In reality, the portrait shows the woman face being cut out of the reality. This literary means that the portrayed in the art drawing exists out of time and space (Beigel 15). There is no any single suggestion of possible motion since her drawing body is perfectly stable (Beigel 15). There is the design of formal arrangement of the portrait as used by the artist. The artists ensured that the elements in the presented work or art were arranged symmetrically meaning that each of he component in the drawing was perfectly balanced against each other (Beigel 15). There is inclusion of more emphasis precisely on Pipers facial appearance. It is prudent to appreciate the fact that the artist recognized the woman’s eyes, nose and lips (Beigel 16). This is because the art portrait revealed stressing and detailed drawing emphasis with a main target of drawing viewer’s attention. This openly represents the exaggerated Negroid features perfected on the artwork (Beigel 16). The artist ensured that the accent appeared when contrasting colors were employed on the portrait. Furthermore, intense bright lines were also incorporated to bring out the drawing accent (Beigel 16). The portrait reveals no movement in the picture. This is appreciated since it does not portray the rhythm of the artwork (Beigel 18). The size of the drawing is also closer to the actual size of a woman natural face while its elements are perfectly harmonized with each other (Beigel 18). In reality, the artists ensured that the drawing conveyed an intricate idea through a picture by experimenting with sizes and proportions (Beigel 18). This allowed the observers to look at the art work with a communicating mind. In addition to this, most artwork exhibits employ still life drawing and painting of items (Beigel 18). The artistic use of still life drawing is objectively done to display the visual beauty and symbolism of the art (Beigel 18). This can be related with graphical designers art work. There is employment and incorporation of visual solutions which categorically purport to communicate or sell the concept behind the art (Beigel 18).
