Extract of sample "Painting Discription"

The given painting seems to be full of a number of strokes made beautifully across the canvas; it is difficult to understand whether the painting can be classified as being conceptual or perceptual. This is because of the sole reason that the various strokes may interpret a meaning that the artist had intended to convey with the help of an idea that he had before creating what he has been able to create. Coming to conclusion, however, in my opinion, this piece can be classified as being perceptual because it can have many interpretative meanings and is not confined to a single space. It may thus also be termed as performance art or art that is not quite finished and requires insight from the general audience in their eyes to be defined as something in particular. Perceptual art thus appeals to the senses of the onlooker, as is being understood with the help of this painting.

The brush strokes in the painting on the other hand can be understood as the following; there is no focus provided to detail as such, large areas or strokes have been made keeping in mind a single hue with full lighting in each broad plane. In the value plane, there is the use of red to signify the transition from the strokes to match the little detail that has been made in the painting. The use of a small brush to finish the accents has not been used as only large strokes can be seen to be clearly defined. Thus, the accents have low value and little control can be understood at the edges of the strokes. The focal point of the painting thus is abstract and arbitrary, making it open to interpretation and interest.
