Such a situation may push a person into reacting in anger and disdain. There are many ethnic groups and subcultures in the American society who have to face such type of situations at one time or other in their lives. American Indians do happen to be one such vulnerable group that is time and again made to relinquish their reservations.

Besides, irrespective of the extension of social, political and economic rights to the blacks, there is no denying the fact that sometimes black individuals do come across rejection and disrespect. Perhaps, things get worse in the case of illegal Mexican immigrants who are pushed around in this country as if they were a pile of trash rather than being humans. Still, considering Okubo’s experience, one gets motivated to never to lose faith and hope in circumstances driven by rejection and prejudice.

Part II As per Don Lee, his immigration experience was marked by ample apprehension as well as hope. He was unsure as to whether he will be able to carve out a niche for oneself in a country that is so different and culturally diverse. Perhaps such feelings and fears on the part of Don Lee would have been quiet similar to Yun Gee’s experience. Watching things from such a perspective may help the reader understand the predominant feelings and influences that shaped Yun Gee’s art.
