Modern Art History - Assignment Example

Looking at a particular period of art can bring about the innovativeness of artists in depicting ideas using paint and brush and various other unique techniques, which is a characteristic of the modern era.  Learning all these perspectives among fellow students and engaging in discourses that analyze the works of art during this period will expose me to varied ideas and perceptions, which may contribute greatly to my esthetic education. Furthermore, I will be privileged to discover the different perceptions of fellow students and sharpen my skills to analyze future works of art and look at art from a multidimensional perspective. Continuous and developmental exposure to works of art will accelerate my capacity to look at works of art, not just from the surface but boldly venture into the deep maze and discover the exact message intended by different artists I will be exposed to. I expect not just to learn about artists, their art, and the different eras in art but also to be able to apply knowledge-based critiquing to improve my overall knowledge and mastery of art.

Last Reflection

Just as I had anticipated the experience with Modern art from the period between 1850 and 1955 exposed me to magnificent works of art and the awe-inspiring genius of artists through this period. The extent to which these artists rebelled against conventional approaches to art and delved deep into their creative psyches to pioneer new forms of art was both stimulating and motivational. I believe that I am now able to see art from multiple perspectives and prudently apply knowledge to be able to understand the message that an artist conveys on canvas using paint and brush. Art is always intertwined with other aspects such as civilization, intellectual and generalized perception of a people during a given period. The Modern era work of art has given me the privilege to understand the minds of the people during this period and the constructs of their world. In essence, I am confident that my understanding of art in general has received a significant boost and I believe that I will be able to analyze works of art during different periods and in the future with sharper skills. The unique techniques of the artists during the Modern Era have created in me a deep appreciation of the relationship between art and a period and how artists venture into their world to discover new techniques. Furthermore, my appreciation of the way art correlates with a specific era has improved. I am deeply privileged and therefore thankful for having the opportunity to study art in the Modern Era at this institution.
