Provide specific examples as you explain your point of view.The Internet and a variety of recent technologies have undoubtedly affected the ways modern movies are produced, distributed, and exhibited.

As for the Internet, it drastically changed the ways movies are distributed. Specifically,. Movies are now distributed through piracy, sharing files, downloading, etc. Movies are marketed through online advertising and the access to them through digital piracy, for example, Limewire, Youtube, etc, is easy. Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies, people now prefer sharper images and perfect quality. In relation to this, the demand for 3D technology is growing. Films are exhibited not just on TV, but exhibition through DVD and Internet downloading is even more popular, especially if to take into account the fact that people are now looking for more comfortable ways of watching films than going to a movie theater.

In terms of quality and depth of the films, it seems the Internet and digital technologies have greatly affected the cinema too. While the Internet has made porno available for free, people no longer look to movies to watch sex and nudity. It is now perceived vulgar, so the audience would rather see sexuality than sex (Dylan van Rijsbergen, 2007, www.signandsight.com). Plus, people started to perceive movies more in terms of their images and emotion rather than intellectual quality, with great emphasis on technological effects (Coppola cited in Mystery Man on Film, 2007, www.

Also, it seems the quality of films production improved since the audience have a wider choice of what to see and critically review films in their blogs. -Explain the difference between a films story and a films plot. Use a specific film to illustrate your point of view. In the film you chose, are the events presented chronologically or are they presented non-linearly? What might a filmmakers intentions be when he or she chooses to present events chronologically or in a non-linear order?

How are elements like character development or foreshadowing used differently between the two storytelling methods?The difference between a film’s story and film’s plot lies in the definitions of these two notions. While a story is defined as a narrative of events which is arranged in chronological order/time sequence, a plot is a narrative of events which places emphasis on causality (Forster, cited in “Plot vs. Story”, 2008, www.cinemoose.com). In the story, the chronological order is important, and the audience are just eager to know what goes next, as for example, in James Bond films.

For the plot, the sense of causality is the most important which may often mean that the film is directed in a non-linear manner. As for the elements, since the plot focuses on “why?”, the elements that are unimportant for the story, like soundtrack or visual images, are quite important for the plot. Pulp Fiction directed by Qwentin Tarantino is a good example of a film with a non-linear plot. With a broken timeline, it presents some images that are hard to forget.
