Critical Analysis of the Movie Titanic - Essay Example

The backdrop for the movie Titanic is the great tragedy of the ship TITANIC which has had sank in the Atlantic waters in 1913 claiming nearly 1500 lives of onboard passengers. The incident was one of the worst tragedies that ever occurred. The screenplay and the taking were spectacular and realistic throughout the movie. The first half was a mere introduction of the ship and about two lovers. The sets are designed to a phenomenal precision that the author and the art director brought a realistic view of the features of the ship. The costumes, jewelry designed were awesome. The storyline starts with 101 years old Rose starts narrating the experience while she traveling on the Titanic to a diver who organizes search operations for the precious diamond in the ship's remains. Hero (Jack) a poor individual gambles for traveling on the Titanic and succeeds to get a ticket to travel on Titanic. Heroine Rose hails from a royal family traveling in first class. Rose (heroine) who doesn’t like her fiancée decides to suicide when jack (hero) comes into rescue and wins her heart with his behavior and director in making the hero and heroine meet each other, takes to many parts of the ship to showcase the extravaganza of the art direction. The real essence of the movie starts when the navigators are in the thick fog unable to trace the iceberg in front of them. The struggle starts with the ship narrowly escapes rubbing the huge iceberg and deviating.

The eighty minutes ship wreckage is a real visual treat to watch with almost bringing the tragedy to reality. Rose & Jack having some good time are exposed to the reality that the ship is in peril. Cal Hockley (Billy Zane) Rose's fiancé who realizes Rose's love with Jack, intimidates rose and tries to admonish jack to quit the thought of having relation with a high society family, Cal being the negative character tries to keep Rose away from Jack.

However, Rose tries to be with Jack as the ship emerges slowly into the ocean. The commotion starts as the power cables fail. Passengers out of anguish trying to get to the floating drier parts slip into the cold waters which squeeze their voice to deep sleep. The crew starts evacuating the ship and helps passengers to board the lifeboats. Only the first-class passengers were rescued and the lower-class passengers were left to their fate. Jack convinces Rose to board the ship along with Cal, he promises to join them. But, rose refuses and shares the extremes of the tragedy with the jack. The ship breaks into two parts with the greater half sinking at last. The ship sinking scenes are hearts touching. Jack tries to accommodate Rose onto a wooden plank and he hangs in the cold freezing waters which slowly digests jack into the blue waters. The moment when Rose opens her eyes after a tiring sleep finds nothing but the floating remains. Jack in saving her love sacrifices his physical presence. Rose is rescued by crew members who vacate one small boat and return to save passengers who were alive till that time in the extreme climate. The background music fine-tunes with the scenes and the awesome humming makes you Feel spellbound. Leonardo & Kate were at their best in acting.
