?How Media Art correlates with Manufacturing Industry Media has been very influential to the lives of billions of people all over the world. It has affected every inch of the way people lives, from the way they dress, the way they speak and the way they carry themselves around. Its effect is as vast as the universe could defy. With this, it would not be a surprise if even the commerce industry has been affected by such instrument and its art. Media art can go a long way more than we can imagine, especially now that we are in the modern world, where everything is instant, and everything can be achieved more easily and more conveniently than before. Manufacturers need to cater to the changing needs of their consumers in order for them to continue with their operations. They need to think of new innovations for their products for them to be globally competitive and for others not to outweigh what they have. It should not be a wonder why manufacturers with this line of thinking have owned the top positions for the best manufacturers in the world. Apple’s Legacy Apple for instance, has come a very long way in producing items that were really suitable for the different tastes of people. As their products continue to innovate, their ability to capture the hearts of the consumers also continue. With this, manufacturers within the same line of business such as Samsung are also following Apple’s steps in innovating their products and giving in to what the customers want. They always come up with ideas that would attend to the latest craze regarding the different gadgets, always leaving their consumers thirsty for more. While it is enough to credit these manufacturers for their ability to innovate and think of new ways to sell their products, it cannot be denied that media art has also affected the success of these manufacturers very effectively. Anyone would be positive in saying that media art can really push consumers to purchase the products that they contain. Advertisements always make a huge impact to customers and it’s the easiest form of influence so that consumers can be attracted to the products. Apple has been in the top of Wall Street for the past years now, since its introduction of the Macintosh personal computers and the portable music players known as iPod. Nowhere in the world can you see anyone who owns any of these gadgets. The way on how these products attained success is a great illustration on how media art and innovation can really be a factor to the manufacturer’s success. Even the littlest image on a magazine, or a small advertisement in a billboards and everything else, if it contains the most important feature that a product has, that would be a plus factor to the manufacturer’s ability to sell. Even as Apple continue to succeed, its owner, Steve Jobs overlooked the fact that he has competitors around. Koontz and Weihrich (2008, pp.331-333) shared what happened between Apple and Windows. Gates has offered Jobs to make the personalized software that he wants, but as soon as Gates took a hold of the Apple’s software, he took advantage of it, and thus, the birth of Microsoft Windows. This only proves that having the most efficient software and resources is not the only key to success in every company. There will always be those who will compete in order to get to the highest position. Microsoft was then successful in pirating Apple’s idea, but the success that the latter has made can still be apprehended for. According to Lussier and Achua (2010, pp.24-25), Apple’s success comes from trying to make things that would be loved by everyone. There is no doubt at this point that everyone loves their products. Together with their brilliant minds, innovation and resourcefulness, media art can always be behind everything that they make. As stated earlier, the easiest way to reach people nowadays and to sell products is through advertising. Media art is a very effective tool in exposing your products in a very simple way. For as long as you know the details to include in the advertisement you are going to put up, something that will be striking and remarkable for the consumers, your product will be ready to go. Going back to Apple’s success, Muller (2010, pp.2) stated that innovation and creativity has been the major drivers for the company to be in its status quo. Although other companies also possess the same characteristics, what makes Apple different is that instead of outsourcing different functions in producing such products, they usually use in-house resources. It can be a really good thing for manufacturers since this would mean lesser cost and security to their products. Although at first, Apple made a mistake of talking out Microsoft in doing the software for them, they have learned from that experience. The Success of Samsung Right behind Apple is the name of some other manufacturers competing for the top post. One of these manufacturers is Samsung, who, other than producing televisions are now also producing tablets and phones, products that are in line with those of Apple’s. According to Herbold (2007, pp.142-145), it was in 2006 when Samsung was ahead in terms of annual revenue, profits and market capitalization. As compared with Apple, one of its key characteristic is the ability to create new process for generating new products. They have their very own organization assigned for innovation. Michell (2010, pp.196-198) even stated that Samsung has been a pioneer in a unique collaborative culture including product as well as process technology development. With this, it can be concluded that the success of Samsung was all about strategies and coherent management. Underneath all the strategies and factors to success that Samsung has contributed, the role of media art in all these steps cannot be hindered. For one, when we look at magazines, Samsung can easily be found, and whenever we go to the mall, appliances by Samsung can never be missed. One proof of the power of media art is a feature article in a magazine in Tokyo entitled “Solving Mysteries of Charging Korean Wave Management.” It talks about the company’s success, as Lee (2007, pp.34) stated it. The secrets of how Samsung managed to go to the top is revealed in this article and it can be regarded as an important tool to how the company has reached its consumers. Sony and Its Versatility Another company trailing along the former two is Sony. The technique of the company is direct distribution and training salesperson that can really attend to the question of the consumers. Other factors also include the ability of the company to have dedicated employees which in turn are taken care of by the company (Frisch, 2004, pp.23-24). The company began producing appliances to the consumers. But nowadays, Sony has been also one of the top producers of laptop computers, cell phones and tablets. Sony has been very diverse when it comes to innovating their products. They have a wide range of products to choose from, giving Sony a reason to rise to its level. Through this wide range of products, a wide range of media art can also be displayed. Magazines always feature the latest model of Sony laptops together with their phone. Positive feedbacks regarding the said product are also a plus to why consumers are getting giddy in purchasing their gadgets. The Role of Media Art as a Medium for Advertisement Although the three companies have their own style in manufacturing their product, all of them have their own websites to which you can view all about their products, the key features of each and everything else that you need to know. This media art can be regarded as an important tool in order for consumers to have something to turn to whenever they have inquiries regarding said products, and that they just wanted to compare and contrast different products in order for them to decide which one will suit their needs. As of today, these three companies have been competing in various products and gadgets, phones, laptops and music players. These three companies are the names that will never be missed out on the top 10 or even top 5 manufacturers of computers and the like. All these can be attributed to the strategies of the said companies. However, media art can still be correlated to these manufacturers. With the influence that advertising and media has nowadays, the power to drive people into purchasing your products through media art is one of the most effective techniques. Advertisers always find their ways in convincing people to do something. It is a move that pertains moving the desire of people to purchase such products into actually getting it (Berger, 2008, pp.59). This is the part where manufacturers actually influence their consumers to finally make the decision of getting the product. Influencing is a very tough job not only for the manufacturers but for everyone as well. Instilling an idea in one’s mind is very hard and even harder if it involves money. Also, people nowadays are smart. They don’t just go out there and buy whatever it is at the market. They look for the most worth the tag price, the one which will provide them the most useful years. They do not want to spend their money on something that would fail them sooner or later. In addition to this, firms also advertise for them to achieve their long-term market share and profitability goals. It is so because advertising has given them the thinking of getting an edge over other competitors (Simos, Sakas and Konstantopolou, 2010, pp.141-142). As presented in this paper, different manufacturers are competing for the consumer’s attention. In doing so, they always come up with different ideas in order to innovate their products and come up with fresher and newer ones. With this, consumers will be willing to try and find out what makes that product different from the other. Through this and the continuous help of media art, consumers will be informed and will take their pick on what to buy and what not to buy. Media art is a very powerful tool in advertising. Aside from this, media art has a big relation to manufacturers. Sony, for one has a very diverse range of products and services. Aside from the appliances that we can see around, the company has been attributed to films and sounds. It can be evident that through this, we can definitely say that media art is correlated with Sony. Moreover, it can be concluded that media art does not only serve as a medium for advertisement, but it can be attributed to the product itself. As per the commercial application of the media art as compared to the software, it can be visible that media art is often used to display the software that the manufacturers are selling within their products. Apple, for instance, need to state what software is included in their Macbooks and other gadgets so that consumers will know what to expect from the said gadget. With this, consumers can have the chance to choose whether what product really suits their needs. Media art can also be present in web browsers. In the Internet, there is what we call widgets, which are stand-alone applications that may contain images, polls or even advertisements. Numerous widgets can be seen when browsing any website and this can be a very effective tool as well when you advertise your product. It is for the reason that widgets are eye-catching, but it sometimes depends on the content of the widget, and that they can easily be found. Other forms of media art can also be found on the web, such as those pop-up advertisements that would also make the consumers curious as to what are in store for that certain products, or that what are the manufacturers have for their customers this time around. It cannot be denied how media art influences the consumers in getting what they really want. Likewise, media art can also be effective for manufacturers to attract consumers. This is where the correlation of media art and manufacturers begin. Though the demand for the product can always be high, other competitors might always get in the way through media art. The power of media art to influence people is strong and it is very visible nowadays. It can further be stated that media art is not only limited to advertising. It is a medium to which consumers may be able to understand more about the products and the manufacturers so that they can decide well on what product to choose from. It is therefore safe to conclude that there is a positive correlation between media art and manufacturers, because media art is an important tool for the manufacturers to sell their products and inform the public of what they really have.
