6 May, The 11th Hour Review: The film talks of the irreparable damage caused to the world by the industrial civilization. The signs have shown up in the form of natural catastrophes that have occurred randomly on Earth in the recent years. Despite the fact that scientific evidence for the alarming conditions that have so far developed and are still developing is plenty, the people in authority are not showing as much concern towards the problem as it demands. The flood of Katrina, the earthquake of Haiti and Muzaffarabad are all evidence of disturbed geology and ecology of Earth causing immense loss of life and property.
The speed with which natural resources are depleting is enormous. Habitats of many animal and plant species have been completely destroyed by the global warming, thus causing those species to become extinct. The development is highly unsustainable. If necessary measures are not taken at the 11th hour, the whole world would soon have to regret for their unwise and inconsiderate practices. In order to fight against the ever worsening environmental conditions, it is imperative that we, as responsible citizens, take objective measures on individual level.
We can achieve this by planting seeds, growing trees, and taking care of animals. Solar energy should be used for all kinds of needs instead of fuel and gas. The film projects that these issues are more of political nature than technical. Historically, there have been many political reasons for the environment unfriendly practices. Concluding, the film conveys that the future of Earth lies in the hands of the young generation. What I specifically liked about this movie was the mood in which it conveyed the message.
For quite some time, I felt as if I had been watching a great action movie. The action was particularly meaningful because it offered the audience a look into the future. I also like the title of this movie very much. It has been very adequately and purposefully selected and goes excellently with the theme of the movie. No doubt, we are already quite late in addressing the environmental issues and this is indeed, the 11th hour! If this is wasted as well, then we should be getting ready to face the dreadful consequences of our own mistakes.
I did not like the noise in the start of the movie. It was too noisy and nothing was easily audible or understandable. I agree that all hope rests with us as the young generation. Facts presented in the movie are just too true to disagree with. The movie somewhat changed my view of the world. I never knew that such environmental issues as global warming and sustainable development were fundamentally controlled by the global politics! Having watched the movie, I realize that my life means a lot to this world.
Through my rational practices, I can save the world. My long cultivated urge to reduce the environmental issues has increased manifolds. Right after watching the movie, I planted apple seeds in my backyard and I intend to plant one tree on daily basis from today onwards. Works Cited: The 11th Hour Trailer. 2007, Film. 6 May 2011. .
