Equestrian Department Final Report We visited the Equestrian Department which is a magnificent place located inside the Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club. This facility is found within the vicinity of the Magam area in Al Ain. It borders the Twam hospital. From the name of the place, one can predict what to expect; horses. I have always been fascinated by horses and wanted to have a time where I can learn and interact more with them. Apart from the learning experience, I have heard about the place and wanted to have a first-hand impression of what takes place within the facility. Ultimately, I was impressed as I went through the tantalizing experience; having a horse ride made my visit complete. In addition, to having a good time in the facility, there were several lessons learnt about the facility. The facility does not have a long history since it was established in 2007. The structures looks new while one can easily tell that the facility has not been in existence for long judging from its outlook. However, over the few years that it has been in existence, it has been expanded. The facility is a leisure center that provides an opportunity for sport enthusiasts to get to engage in horseracing, golf, shooting as well as rugby. This means that in most cases, the place is always occupied; all these activities take place in their respective fields since the facility has an extensive field that harbors all these sporting activities. Based on the nature of the Equestrian Department, it is quite clear who are the visitors to this place. I was able to notice a number of locals and people from other areas. In addition, the place attracted tourists from various backgrounds. Through observation, the Equestrian department of the Palm Sports Resort is very attractive. It offers an opportunity for the visitors to appreciate the sporting facilities that are hosted within the facility. The visitors are seen enjoying riding or racing on the horses, or busy in the golf field, rugby or in shooting. In particular, I gave much attention to horse racing and enjoyed getting to the horseback. It was a wonderful time getting to learn some of the characters exhibited by horses, which includes the ability to be docile and ability to adhere to instructions. The facility has embraced inter-cultural and interracial integration. I noticed that the employees in the facility were drawn from diverse races and cultural groups through the locals were somehow more dominant. In addition to the locals, one could clearly identify the presence of the whites from Western countries and the Asians. The facility offers various packages for different people where they are required to pay varying amounts. According to the attached paper (See attached), the charges for the members are different from those of non-members. This is because members are expected to visit the facility more often as opposed to the visitors. The map below shows the location of the facility in Abu Dhabi: Through the encounter with various visitors and the staff, I was able to learn a number of aspects about the facility as well as various cultures and destinations. I was able to interview a couple from Germany who told me that they were on a three-week tour. Though it was challenging to speak to them based on their ascent, they narrated to me a few aspects of their culture, which includes their language and their art. In addition, I met the horse trainers of which I was at a position of conversing with one of them. They described for me the procedure of handling the horses and how they are trained until they are able to understand the racing instructions. After some basic lessons, he guided me so that I was able to ride for about 200 meters. Leisure is a very important aspect in the economy of the United Arab Emirates. The country boosts of a number of foreigners that reside within while tourists also find their way into the country regularly. The Palm Sport Resort facility provides a spectacular opportunity for the tourist to come and enjoy sport events that are found across the world. The competitive nature of the sports in this facility is created by the view that people from all backgrounds converge in this region. In essence, there is much of foreign income that gets into the country through the fees charged to the tourists. For such a facility as the Palm Sport Resort, the benefits are great since the tourists get to pay relatively higher fees as opposed to the locals that have signed for membership into the club. The society benefits from the jobs that have been created by courtesy of the facility, taxies levied by the government as well as the corporate social responsibility that the facility engages in. In conclusion, the experience was worth the visit. I got to appreciate the significance of leisure facilities to the overall wellbeing of individuals as well as the economy of the country. In addition, I learnt a few aspects about other cultures and horseracing as one of the sports offered by the Equestrian Department of the Palm Sport Resort. I would desire to visit this facility again and again especially to have the horse racing activity that is offered within the facility.
