Extract of sample "Southwest Airlines Strategies"

The main purpose of Southwest airlines as stated by the CEO of the company was to liberate the people of Philadelphia from the excruciating pain of paying high fairs to travel across the country. Also, southwest airlines had a totally different strategy than other airliners in the market. With no entertainment system in the flights, point to point flights, employees sharing profits of the company rather than huge retirement plans in other airliners and no extra charges for exchanging tickets, southwest airlines was able to provide its customers with cheap airline tickets and posed a major threat to others in the market however it did not seem to enter the mainstream market and chose shorter routes. With days passing, southwest airlines decided to enter the bigger market and started service on bigger routes such as California and Philadelphia.
