Reflection trip Introduction To begin with, a trip refers to as the movement or travelling of people betweendistant geographical places for leisure or educational purposes. On Wednesday, October 15, 2014 we were privileged to visit a cruise ship by the name Brillance of the Sea, whereby it’s a large sailing ship between Australia and South Pacific hence departures from Sydney and Brisbane. First and foremost, when you arrive on the board the first people you meet are the Crew Steward and the head of department who will make available for your uniform and also show you around the vessel so that you may familiarize with the place and also takes you to your cabin. In fact a meeting will be held just shortly after you arrive referred to as A Welcome Aboard Meeting, whereby you are introduced to captain, staff captain and the hotel director. During this meeting you are informed about the rules and regulations followed by the board and also clarify any question you might have. In my case the leader was a Portuguese girl known as Sarah whereby she has worked for the company for two years. Sarah took the students through the bridge, that is the control room, whereby she introduced to us a girl who went ahead to explain to us how the captain of the ship works and how some of the devices he or she uses work. The girl also goes ahead and tells us how communication is carried on. For instance, she shows us how incoming private calls and also fax are forwarded to the crew member through the ships reception desk and also how the outgoing calls which can be either directly or indirectly can be forwarded through the ships radio station or any of the ships phone. In fact, she told us that outgoing faxes are usually handled through the ships radio station. In addition, she gave us a warning that cellular phones are not permitted on the ship that is, no one is suppose to use their phonecell. Moreover, she took us through the kids section where she went ahead to explain to us how they usually take care of them for instance, she told us the kids are given toys to play around with and their meals are served perfectly on time and also they are given snacks at specified hours. She took us to the pool side whereby we enjoyed a perfect swim. Sara also took us to the dinning room whereby it is referred to as the mess room. We were served with delicious meals, whereby each one eats the meal to their satisfaction. Shortly after our meal, Sara took us to the spa where we enjoyed the luxury. In fact, she told us that medical care was the most important benefit that is given to all the members of the crew (Zuckerman 2012). For instance, any kind of sickness that emerges is treated immediately before it starts to spread to the rest of the members while every accident or any injuries are supposed to be reported immediately because being healthy is the most important part of the ship and its crew members. As we all known entertainment is more important that people enjoy. She took us to the entertainment room where people do go to relax their body by playing any kind of game they are interested. The ship also has got a cinema, where people go to watch movie, sports or news and even other interesting things. We were also taken to the theater room were by conference do take place. At long last she took us to the gym whereby people go there so that they may excise and stretch the body. The ship cruise organization is composed of the captain, who is the master of the ship and is also the highest person with authority on the board and the rest of the vessel. There is also the staff captain who is the second in command and he gives a report to the master. The staff captain is also in charge of the maintenance of the ship that is inspecting the crew cabins to ensure they are clean and all regulations and rules are followed. Staff captain also ensures that there is enough security and also discipline together with the Safety of the ship and its members. The chief engineer deals with every aspect of technicals whereby is in charge of repairing machines in the ship. In addition, there is also the welfare committee that is elected by the members in order for them to address the general matters that concern the life style on the board and also to ensure that some of the arrangements are well conducted such as the management of the crew bar sports events and also the social events. According to the welfare committee decisions is how the pro its and other resources are reinvested. However the activities of the welfare committee depend mostly on the other crew members. A purser in a ship is an individual whose responsibility handles every single money that is on the board. In other terms purser is the officer who is in charge of the administration and also supplies (Enz 2010). In fact the cooks and the steward are answerable to to them and they do it frequently. The roles of the purser is to ensure that every customer is comfortable and has the best service by ensuring the environment is friendly whereby they are greeted and acknowledged. The purser also ensures that the beverage , food and snack preparation are on time and the tables are cleaned up. He also assists cleaning the boat and preparing the cruise. In addition the purser addresses every single issues comments or any other questions for the passengers. The purser also maintains an awareness of all advertisements and promotions. Infact he or she manages the ship (Gibson 2006) With a crew, a ship it consists of different type of people from different country with different cultures and different ages. Due to this people interact together and learn the other peoples culture and helps to enhance one culture and being proud of their background. In conclusion, though at first I thought the ship was not organized because known one was assigned to tour us when we arrived the tour turned to be the most enjoyable especially the idea of taking care of the kids. The cruise has a big smart screen device that enables the guest to identify the place they are and other information which they may need. The buffet and the food we took was a watery mouth food. Though the place was perfect I noticed that the people who are in higher positions are from Europe, while the lower position are from the other nationality. In addition to that, their welcome process was not good and welcoming unlike the other cruise I have been.
