It is a hill station with height ranging 450- 1500 meters. “Located at a distance of 52 kms from Palakkad, the cool hills of Nelliampathy, nestling atop the Western Ghats, offer a breathtaking view of the misty mountains and enchanting valleys interspersed with sprawling tea, coffee, cardamom and orange plantations.” (Keralatraveltours.com, 2010) Wild orange resort is spread across 16 acres of lush green, which provides the blend of all these wild experiences with utmost care and comfort. The resort is just 5 km away from the beautiful orange plantation. We provide elegant luxury with all the modern comfort in accommodation. Wild Orange resort has 50 individual suites with 2 specialty restaurants delicate to pure south Indian food, Aruvi and the Seasons multi cuisine restaurant , Teyla the a coffee shop and a library bar, called Vajra, which offers finest beverages and best cigars. We provide room service facility and 24 hr laundry. Our priority is complete satisfaction of our guests. We want every guest at Wild Orange resort to leave with an unforgettable experience. We believe in our people and we aim at the care of our employees as of our guest. We also follow to give the best training to our employee’s to make the vision of wild orange resort real. In order to impart the growth history we had developed a business code of conduct which each and every associate is bound to follow. Purpose of Code: Wild orange resort plans to continue its growth trend in future too. For this trend to be continued, we need a set of strict time tested and proven code of business conduct which will take the organization further to achieve this goal. This is a top to bottom effort where people starting from directors to frontline associates are bound to follow. People Covered under the code The code has to be followed by each and every employee of the organization which includes board of directors and executive team, Managers and associates in all operational departments, support and administration staffs in departments such as finance, HR and Sales, etc. Implementation of code The code of conduct will be available to each and every associate at the time of his/her induction to the organization. There will be a brief training session from the learning and development department on these codes too. Apart from that the unit heads of each department will reinforce the code of business on regular basis with associates. The code of business is to be strictly adhered to and in case of any doubts or updates required on code of business; any associate can visit the corporate website and download it digitally. Training and development – Apart from the training provided by the learning and development team to the associates, special training on code of conduct will be provided by the internal audit team every year. Violation of code Violation of the code is considered to be an offence in the company. Any violation observed can be reported by any associate through corporate intranet mail at corporatehr@wildorangeresort.com. The identity of the person reporting any violation of the code will be kept as secret and avoidance of any sort of job risk as retaliation to his/her act of good will is guaranteed by the company. If the violation is proven to the management, strict disciplinary actions will be taken against the accused. Judgmental decisions The code tries to cover most important influencers in the hotel operation. However there will be instances where an associate is encountered with difficult judgmental situations. Those situations can be undoubtedly encountered with logical human instincts based on the value principles we follow in the organization such as Honesty, Dignity and Loyalty. Especially in a place like Palakkad, encroachment of Government land has been a serious issue for some time now. The government had recently passed a new land law for the region. “The new law would have provisions to put encroachers behind bars and take action against officials who failed to protect government land.” (The Hindu, 2008) As such, out company is committed to abide by any laws and regulations pertaining to the land. Protection of confidential information – During the course of tenure of any associate with the company he/she will come across several confidential information such as guest details, company operating strategies, expansion plans, databases, internal information, intellectual assets such as food recipes and training modules and the like. Such information should not be shared with anyone outside the company or even not to be accessed if the rule says so. The associates are expected to safeguard such information from any sort of unauthorized attempt to access it. Conflict of interest – No associates in the organization should have an added advantage on his/her private interests because of the position he/she holds. In case if an associate feels an occurrence of conflict of interest, instead of trying to solve the issue by themselves, he/she should approach the corporate HR directly as we have an open door policy with regard to this. Healthy competition - We believe in a healthy competition both towards our external and internal customers. In dealing with the competition we should be fast enough and efficient, but at the same time the actions of the company should be in line with the ethics such as honesty, integrity and dignity. In case of competition within our employees for career growth or other interests, the competition should be in such a way that it should not affect the service standard of the organization. Protection of company assets – Each and every associate should ensure protection of company assets. Assets include the physical assets of the company, Legal assets, Funds, Facilities and services. While utilizing these assets, associates should make sure that it is done on an optimum level. Accurate book of records – All departments are expected to keep an accurate book of records pertaining to their business. These may include sales reports, employee benefit details, and financial records. Apart from that operational departments are required to keep a log on activities happening in the department. Also the information provided to other stakeholders such as government, franchisees, employees, stock holders should be accurate. Action against Bribes, corruption and Kickbacks – Any sort of illegitimate acts such as giving and taking of bribes, corrupting the government or other third parties, receiving or giving kickbacks are strictly forbidden. These actions are against the ethics of the company and are not encouraged at any level. Severe disciplinary action will be taken on notice of such activities which causes harm on the image of the company. Insider Trading – It is improper to utilize any internal information received to utilize for personal befits such as stock investment, land dealings etc. Receiving gifts – In hotel industry associates are often gifted by the guest. Acceptances of the gifts are only encouraged in a situation where it is seen as a reward for a successful business deal which has benefitted both the company and the other party. Health, Safety and security –The health, safety and security of the employees are given foremost importance without which employees cannot perform to their best ability. The employees are required to comply with all the health and safety policies put forward by the individual departments. Supporting local community - The local community plays a major role in any business. Without their support a business cannot survive. As the local community helps/supports the business, it is important to give back to them in better way. We as an organization are committed do social services and offers job to the local people. Eco friendly products and services - Our products and service are practiced towards the nature and we believe in eco-friendly resources.
