Technology and Our Body

Technological advancement has rapidly maneuvered throughout the world today. A lot of debate has come up regarding whether technological advancement is useful to our health or not. The human body has been significantly affected by the fact behind technological development across the globe. Several pieces of research have been conducted on the topic at hand. Still, no consensus has been found on whether the negative effects of technological advancement on the human body exceeds the positive impacts of the same initiative. However, this research does into the matter through thorough research on the effect of technology on the human body. It is apparent that the negative effect of technology on the human body outweighs the positive side of technological advancement.

Physical activity and physical health are one of the most important aspects that have been negatively impacted by technology (Ann, 2019). The human body is constructed from vast physical activities and operations. These physical operations include but are not limited to swimming in rivers, physically running across the nation, and doing a lot of pull up activities and isometric exercises to ensure physical fitness. However, the effort in performing this operation has been endangered by the fact that most individuals spend their days and how was sitting on desks following the underlying technology advancement. Most of the activities involved in the utilization of technology promote laziness and inadequate exercise among individuals. For instance, sitting on a desk to watch a movie or type a document our activities that do not entail the performance of isometric exercises. Today, technology has become part of our daily life, thus leading to the negligence of the ancient physical activity operations. It is paramount to consider the fact that these operations played a vital role in promoting physical wellbeing and enhancing the welfare of individuals in society. Physical fitness makes an individual stronger and improves the immune system of the individual in fighting against diseases. The performance of exercise has also played a significant role in excretion through sweating does prevent toxification of cells in the human body. However, all these advantages have been shifted away from our individual lives following the new lifestyle linked to technological advancement.

Technology is a great contributor to the development of weaker bones. One would wonder the linkage between technology and the development of weaker bones. However, it must be understood that the relationship between technology and the development of more fragile bones are not directly correlated but instead an indirect linkage. Technology is a contributor to the development of weaker bones following the lifestyle it manifests into individuals. Unlike in ancient times, where people used to go to work, technology through computer networking and cloud computing have made several people work from home. The underlying covid-19 pandemic has increased the manifestation of this ideology. People consider it irrational to engage in manual physical games while there exist online games on internet platforms. Therefore, it is apparent that the introduction and manifestation of technological advancement have led to limited engagement in physical activity operations, thus leading to the development of weak muscles.

The increasing technology has a negative effect on our eyesight. The increasing use of laptops and smartphones has adversely affected the daily functioning of our eyes. The prolonged use and watching of television affect one's eyes following the effect of the associated light. This effect extends to the prolonged use of smartphones. Statistics from the Vision Council indicate that more than 80% of the adults in America use digital devices for more than 2 hours a day (Nath, 2018). On the same note, an addition of 67% of the adults uses two devices or more at the same time.

Consequently, 59% of the adults in the United States of America have experienced the symptoms of digital eye strain. Several individuals face challenges upon using a screen for more than 2 hours at a time. This kind of discomfort is often termed as digital eye strain. Typical examples of symptoms associated with digital eye strain include but not limited to dry or watery eyes blurred vision sensitivity to the light headache and many more associated ailments that are regularly hard in pharmaceutical commercials.

Technology has led to the development of weird bones. Research reveals that the prolonged use of smartphones leads to the development of horns at the back of user skulls. An intensive analysis of the matter suggests that X-rays of young adults indicates the availability of the protrusion more often than in older adults.

Various mental complications have been linked to the use of technology (Kidslox, 2018). It is argued that the extent to which technology affects the mental wellbeing of an individual is more complex compared to the physical hazard of the initiative. Social media and overexposure to the digital world, including online gaming, can be disastrous to both social circles and the sleep cycle. Unfortunately, the resolution of these complications is impractical, following the fact that technology is linked to addictive behavior. Several students in schools, young youth, and children have been addicted to technology, including social media platforms, online gaming, and watching movies. It is, therefore, naive and irrational to neglect the fact that overcoming the impacts of technology is harder than imagined. Even though addiction has been linked to the use of drugs and sexual behavior, the mere fact that no one considers internet addiction as a taboo in the society renders the efforts to resolve the associated problems impractical.

Most of the people also fail to understand the relationship between technology and less sleep. However, a proper understanding of the correlation between sleep and technology calls upon biological anticipation and analysis of sleep agents. It is imperative to acknowledge that melatonin is the key player in the acquisition of sleep. It is Father another step to acknowledge that the blue light, which is often omitted by tablets laptops and smartphones, has a negative effect on the existence of melatonin in the human body (Jon, 2020). Therefore, the depletion of melatonin in the human body by the blue light makes individuals stay awake for a more extended time, thus resulting in less rest. Even though scientists have identified this problem and are trying to reach a resolution through the development of devices that do not emit the blue light, it is still naive to assume the fact that most individuals spend a lot of time on smartphones and other electronic devices rather than sleeping amid the night. For instance, most people spend most of the night watching movies and chatting with their friends. Some of the sweetest programs on the television are presented in the middle of the night, making most people remain awake throughout the night. The facilitation of working from home through advanced technological innovations has made people operate at the comfort of their residence in the middle of the night rather than sleeping.

Even though technology has been set to bring together people, it is apparent that technological advancement has increased the loneliness. This means that the primary goal of technological advancement has not been met. Scientists have found out that the connectedness of people, including their families, friends, and strangers, has a beneficial element of combating loneliness is not always the case (Conor, 2019). The use of social media platforms has negatively affected the application of face-to-face communication, thus constituting the increased level of mental disorders. It has been found that excessive use of technology has a negative effect on the development of social skills. Currently, most of the business meetings are held on Skype, as most individuals interact over the internet. Even though it is assumed that the internet plays a significant role in this assigns to bring people together, the fact behind the scene is that the initiative replaces the normal real-life communication, thus constituting greater social isolation. Furthermore, pre-established social bonds are deteriorated by the new virtual Friends created on the internet. Unfortunately, these virtual friends do more harm than good when it comes to the construction of mental wellbeing.

The thinking abilities of young individuals have been placed in jeopardy (Alghamdi, 2016). Even do the internet has played a crucial role in enabling learning, the quality of this kind of education delivery model is questionable. The excessive use of technology as a learning tool has a negative effect on the mental welfare of the children the more the use of entertainment platforms such as social media end online games the lower the performance of the students in the school (Mustafaoğlu, Zirek, Yasacı, & Özdinçler, 2018). Furthermore, the use of Internet research has negatively affected memory development in students. Most of the students are currently aware that the resolution to their travel is over the internet. Therefore they have remained reluctant to place efforts to retain what they learn in the classroom setting. They are for memory loss, and lower thinking capacities are adverse challenges linked to technology.

Privacy and security are some of the most significant elements in human life that have been negatively affected by the development of the internet. The effect of technology on these elements is more pronounced in children and the most vulnerable in society (Nath, & Mukherjee, 2015). Currently, most of the youth are victims of cyberbullying, which negatively affect the mental welfare. Furthermore, text messages on social media platforms are likely to go viral, thus affecting the welfare of the senders following the distortion of individual privacy and security. It is, therefore, apparent that the internet is the source of mental disorders among the youth.

Even though technology has been linked to adverse negative effects on the human body, several advantages are associated with the program. For instance, several applications are essential in enabling an individual to keep physical fitness and remain physically active. There exist numerous applications available on the internet to help individuals skip their exercise routines. Furthermore, several individuals have provided advice on the internet, which plays a crucial role in motivating people and enabling them to track their progress in physical exercise performance. The internet is also a source of information regarding healthy eating, which is paramount in promoting physical and mental welfare in individuals.

It also plays a crucial role in hospital settings in promoting good health outcomes among patients. For instance, scanning and the performance of X-rays have played a crucial role during the diagnostic face of the treatment (Northwest Primary Care, 2020). These aspects are fundamental in determining the underlying disease and promoting the implementation of perfect initiatives in curbing the problem. A shift from manual records to computerized records has played a fundamental role in ensuring good tracking of patient information and promoting patient-based care. Electronic records in hospitals have also played a significant role in promoting is it tracking of patients' progress does enhance the achievement and attainment of excellent patient outcomes (University of South Florida, 2020). Electronic records can be stored for a long time, acting as security against lawsuits in the hospital setting. Furthermore, electronic records are crucial in ensuring that nursing practitioners maintain accountability because they are often used as evidence on the utilized medical care delivery programs.

In conclusion, the disadvantages of technology outweigh its associated advantages on human health. It is, therefore, fundamental for individuals to consider several aspects when using technology. Most importantly, it is imperative to engage in operations that advantage the welfare of the human body. Furthermore, limiting the use of internet appliances and integrating physical and manual approaches may play a significant role in enhancing individuals' wellbeing.
