Impact of telephone on society al Affiliation) Introduction The main aim of Alexander Graham Bell’s when developing the telephone was to enable everyone including the financially challenged to have ability to communicate. The telephone was the first communication device to enable people to maintain their relationship over long distances. Due to the telephone technology, the world and the society has really changed. It is very easy to take the appliances, telephones, and telephones for granted. The society do not consider the effect that the telephone technology has on people’s lives. The introduction of telephone was met with technical problems and resistance. After sometime, the innovation was accepted and every person in the western world has at least a telephone. Operations without telephone When the invention of telephone was done by Graham, he did not realize the extent to which it caused revolution to the community. His main intention in the invention was to create a way through which communication could be done over great distance without the need of physical movement. The invention however did not only achieve the intention on communication but there were other factors that it changed in the society. The invention changed the lives of those that lived in the community mentally, physically, socially, educationally and economically. Before the invention of telephone, communication was mainly done over long distances through the use of emails and sending messengers. The great distance that was involved made only the important messages to be passed. There was minimal immigration since people feared that they would not be able to communicate. The social setting of the community before the invention of telephone was strong as compared to the recent setting. Strangers that were in the community would more communicate to members of the community freely. In traditional way there were no improvements in businesses as there has been through implementation of technology. Communication was a major problem as people had to move and meet physically to carry out transaction. Traditionally, trade was restricted to some regions and one was not able to carry out exchange beyond the region. Globalization recently has been a result of improvement in technology. Globalization as a result of technology does not only allow quick communication among people but it also removes the barriers that are involved in marketing. Lives have been improved as a result of technology as through globalization, people are able to obtain goods and equipment that they lack (Beekman, 2001). Globalization has enabled the world to be developed to a village. Traditionally, many resources and energy were used in carrying out activities as most of the operations were done using manpower. Improvement in technology has brought cost effectiveness through the telephoneized operations. Activities that were done with a range of people a through technology have enable cost effectiveness as there is the use of cost effective machines. In traditional setting, working was carried out in specific places at specific times as there was no conveniences and flexibility in the equipment that was used. Technology has allowed the operation of the economy at all times (Cassedy, 2004). Activities can be done at any place at any time as most of technology that has been implemented are portable. Services are also being obtained in a special way from. Impact of technology Technology refers to the collection of ideas, processes and techniques that is used in the production of goods and services. The production with technology aims in achieving the objectives that are put in place. Objectives that are usually set to be accomplished by technology are those that are related to scientific inventions. Technology can be brought out through telephones, machines, factories and devices that are operated without the clear knowledge of those that work with them (Beekman, 2001). Technology originated in the process of human trying to use simple resources that were available in making simple tools. Technology dates back when human used knowledge tom light fire and invention of wheels that helped to travel and control the environment. There are several technologies that have been invented and helped human inn several ways. Technology has come up with telephone, printing press and internet (Rauber, Christodoulakis & Tjoa, 2005). These have helped communication to be improved as human has been able to interact freely in different parts of the world. Technology on the other hand has been used to develop products and services that are not friendly. It has been used to develop weapons that have been used in war. General impacts of technology Technology has affected the society in many ways. Technology has led to the development of economies, social classes and also politically. Technology has also negatively influenced the environment by producing by-products and depletion of natural resources from the environment. Pollution has also been a major factor in dealing with implementations that come up due to technology. Various technological implementations has also led to influence of values that occurred in the society before the implementation of the technology. Ethical issues have also come up due to new technologies. Examples of effects that have come up due to technology are increased production due to implementation of machines and challenge that have risen from the traditional norms. There have been several arguments on whether technology has improved the lives of people that live in a society of has just led to deterioration on the norms. Technology has affected several sectors of the society. The sectors that have been affected by technology include education, business and health care. In education, technology has enhanced learning of the students with different considerations. As opposed to the traditional way, students are able to improve their skills on reading and math calculation. Students currently do not have to stick to the learning cycles as teachers have shifted to use of current technology through media and other interactive tools. Through information technology, students are able to study from anywhere as opposed to the traditional way where there had to be direct contact with the teacher. From education perspective, technology encourages learning in a positive manner, prepare future workforce and improves skills of students. Technology in business has enabled the quick expansion of small businesses. Technology that has been involved in this aspect are those that enables virtual office tools, social networking and techniques that have removed boundaries that in the previous setting occurred in businesses. Technology in business through telephones has improved communication which is a key factor in business. Recently, employees are not only limited to making calls in their work but can also be able to send messages and emails without the fear of interruption of others. Communication in business through technology can be passed to may recipients at a go. Efficiency in workforce that is in businesses has increased productivity. There is ability of organization to inform the others on the recruitment that is in the business and identify potential that is needed for production. Telephone technology has made work in organizations to be faster than in the traditional way when all works in production had to be done manually with human. Qualities of goods and services that are produced in organization recently have increased as minimal mistakes are made with the use of technological advancements in production. The main advantage of technology in business is the ability to conserve resources such as money and also time that is used in communication and production. Technology in healthcare has been seen to save lives. Traditionally, there are medical operations that could not be done and diagnosis that could not be realized. Machines through technology have been developed to perform several activities in medicine and maintain healthcare. Telephone technology as development has been able to achieve several objectives that are formed by doctors and in health ministry (Beekman, 2001). Through the technology, there has been creation of social support networks that can be used by patients to seek health solutions when at times that they cannot access the doctors. Technology has also developed self-management resources and tools that patients can easily use. The resources enable patients to be aware of their health status. Technology has increased provision of new opportunities to cultural diversities and hard to access nations, improvement of quality of health care and safety. Other achievements that have been obtained in the healthcare sector through technology include ease of accessing accurate and actionable health information that regard patients and their families , communication quickly on health risks and public health emergencies (Rauber, Christodoulakis & Tjoa, 2005). Technology in healthcare has improved organization and their efficiency. It has helped eradicate uncertainty and every record from the presentation to diagnostic and treatment can be upheld for increased access for healthcare workers. Telephone technology has enabled using software and hardware elements, profiles of patients can be created to carry all the information relating to the patient so doctors can provide consistent treatment. This helps improve patient outcomes and thus reduces resources and costs that are used in health care. Telephone technology Telephones have in the recent times become part of human’s life. Telephone technology has involved the study of software and hardware that have been made the fundamental of telephone revolution systems. Telephones have currently been used to control every sector of the economy. it has become a crucial element in organizations and to businesses (Langer, 2003). Modern implementation in telephone technology systems depends on networks that connect them. Demand has risen on the people who need to come up with new and better networks in telephone technology has ever risen. Applications that are used in telephones have enhanced speed, reliability of the used of the products, mobility and the capacity that the telephones are able to perform. Impact of telephone From the invention of telephone, the world has much changed. The changes have also varied from the time the inventions were made where telephone was expensive and could not be easily afforded. Even when it was expensive, it was highly demanded. In studies that have been conducted, telephone has become part of lifestyle of people in a community. Telephone has improved communication due to the uses that it is exposed. Telephone has been used to conduct businesses, to make conversations and also in cases of emergency where help is needed. There are several advantages that have come about due to invention of telephone. In the aspect the advantages include communication to seek for help in cases of emergency, connecting with families and friends without the need to meet them physically, spread of businesses throughout the world as there are applications that support business transactions. Though invention of telephone leads to increase in communication and business thrills, it also had disadvantages. The disadvantages that are associated to invention of telephone technology include loss of culture of people that lived in the community. There has also been increase in health problem as the use exposes one to radiations. Telephone has no privacy in communication as communication that occurs between different people can be monitored at a given point. There has also been increase in disturbance and lack of proper knowledge of an environment in which one lives. Disposal of components of telephone are also important especially when dumped in the environment. Telephones have environmental and social effects that are always under looked. The assumptions that are made on the effects make lives of those that are exposed to them to be at a risk. Telephone technology and engineering Before the invention of telephone, communication was mainly done over long distances through the use of emails and sending messengers. The great distance that was involved made only the important messages to be passed. There was minimal immigration since people feared that they would not be able to communicate. The social setting of the community before the invention of telephone was strong as compared to the recent setting. Strangers that were in the community would more communicate to members of the community freely. Conclusion Although there are positive and negative factors that are associated to telephone invention, the advantages tend to outweigh the disadvantages since it had become difficult for most people in the society to survive without the use of the technology. The current generation cannot do without it due to the time that it has been used and the rate at which the invention continues to grow. The use should be increased with the reduction of the risks that it exposes to the environment and to the users. References Beekman, G. (2001). Telephone confluence.
