Table of Contents Executive summary 2 Table of Contents 2 References 10 Nature technology advances in nursing career Technology is booming in all sectors and the field of nursing career must not be an exception. Technology has improved from the current days as new advances are being made in the nursing profession. Nurses have discovered that they have access to advanced software and devices that are making their jobs simpler and faster to complete as compared to the later times. The result of technology use is increased efficiency with the day to day tasks thus provision of quality care to the patients. This includes the use of the personal digital assistants to help in patients care. The personal digital assessment is today looked like the most popular devices because of advanced use of technology today. Instead of the nurses carrying up manuals with procedures on their daily practices or index and reference card, the use of the personal digital assistants gadgets has made the work of the nurses very easy (Hannah, Ball, & Edwards, 2006). Nurses can immediately enter the patient’s information at the bedside and later upload it into their personal computers for later use and analysis. This has increased efficiency in the health care system delivery of services and helped in the reduction of the medication errors leading to an overall reduction of costs in the total care of the patients. While myriad forces are changing the face of contemporary healthcare practitioners, consider nothing that will change the way nursing is practiced more as compared to modern advancements made in the field of technology. Today technology is changing the world at a wrap speed and this is very evident in the healthcare sector. However, nurses need to face a number of challenges when integrating and using the current technology ( Lee, 2002). Advances in healthcare are not all about the operating room or the laboratories with the sophisticated equipment and machinery. However is worth noting that there are many advances made with the establishment and introduction of new technologies and machineries to diagnosis and treat patients. Today management of the ill patients is now better as compared to the old times. It is now possible to support patient’s life with machinery such as those employed in the critical care units. Major surgeries are now possible to conduct with life support machines and technology all these can be attributed to the advancements made in healthcare technology over the recent years. Technology advancement has also rapidly changed in the face of healthcare information on how it is used and disseminated. New fields have evolved in the healthcare system with the advancement in technology. The new field informatics has expanded the nurse’s role and opened the door to new career pathways. “Informatics is a science involving the changing of data to information” explains Toni Hedba a professor with masters of science in nursing (Hannah, Ball, & Edwards, 2006). This field entails using computers and statistical techniques in the management of information that is making information management easy for the nurse. The information is made possible for use in identifying patterns, trends that lead to better and timely decisions in the patients care and treatment thus improving the care. As compared to the older days where nursing profession was simply disregarded, today many people enter the field as a second career. “I would not say that today it is harder to be a nurse, it is just different.” With the advances made it technology and specialty it is very easy to learn simpler ways of patient care (Bonato, 2010). The technological explosion The rapid growths evolving in information technology has already had a radical impact on the health care delivery as well as the education systems for the nurses. Advances in processing capacity and speed, the introduction of interactive user interface advances in developments of image storage and transfer of technology, increased affordability of computers and changes in telecommunications are a result of the explosion of technological applications. Advances in technology have increased the application of telehealth as well as Tele medicine bringing thus it has brought the provider and patient close together without physical proximity (Neuman et al., 2012). Nano medicine and technology has led to the introduction of new forms of clinical diagnosis and treatment by provision of new inexpensive biosensors that are capable of detecting a variety of diseases and conditions from miniscule specimens of the body. The dramatic improvement in the accessibility of patient’s information across the health setting has improved the outcomes and patients care management. Through the internet consumers of healthcare can easily access information of their conditions leading to a better understanding of the conditions as whereas improve the care and management of their diseases. The electronic commerce is now a channel available for translating healthcare services and products (Bonato, 2010). Now nurses can easily access and use computers as compared to the olden days. Already distance learning is becoming a success with modalities linking students and faculty from different locales as well as expanding the potentiality for continued accessible professional learning. Online training in the nursing profession is an example of the success advance in technology that has improved knowledge of nurses on the latest advances in the field. Faster and good access to information, as well as new means on observation and communication, are positively impacting on how research is being conducted in the healthcare field (Lee et al., 2006). Technology advances in nursing administration Administration in the medical field has been made a success by the result of advancement in technology and systems. Nurses and other medical personnel are utilizing critical thinking skills and computer practical understanding building and create software that are built “for nurses by nurses” to meet their work needs. With the introduction of the personal digital assistants, patient’s information can be easily entered and managed. This is an important achievement improvement of care of the patient and it makes it easy to manage the patients. Improved technology has made it possible to manage the business performance of the medical personnel especially the nurses. It is possible for the management to consider and determine the number of hours, which the nurse works. Today Nurses have to sign and register when they reach the workplace and have to register when they leave their workplace. The technological advancements have made it possible to effectively manage the working hours of the nurses and other medical personnel that have affected positively on the entire administration in the medical settings (Adeniran, Bhattacharya, & Adeniran, 2012). New internet technology through social media and mobile as a good telephone discovery has made it possible to store and keep medical records in the computer thus easy accessibility and use. This is an important progress towards the development of the care delivery to the patients. Today in their offices nurses managers and other managers have the capability and abilities of communicating with other managers and supervisors in different locations bringing them together without any changes in proximity. The managers can be able to discuss on issues that are affecting the health care delivery system and develop solutions with the use of internet technology. This is a great milestone towards the development of the healthcare delivery to meet the patient’s needs. Technology made it possible for the healthcare providers to manage the patients as well as the authority in the management of its staff that was tiresome to achieve in the last decade (Lee, 2002). Administrative technological advancement Medical administrators keep healthcare offices running efficiently incorporating technology to achieve better results. They perform highly specialized work requiring knowledge of medical terminology and procedures. Administrators are important in assisting assist physicians and medical scientists with reports medical histories and records as well arranging for patients to be hospitalized and order supplies such as medications for the patients. They need to be respected be familiar with insurance rules, billing practices, and hospital or laboratory procedures to deliver quality care to the patients. Modern machinery and technologies like the supportive machines used in the intensive care unit and ventilators has made it possible to monitor and improve care for the care patients. In the offices with the establishment of a personal digital assessment tool, it is possible to manage patient’s information efficiently with unnecessary files that are tiresome to manage. Computers have made it possible to store patient’s data to enhance continuity of care. Telephones introduction of mobile phones and internet access has made it possible to communicate efficiently between departments thus easy communication facilitating administration (Adeniran, Bhattacharya, & Adeniran, 2012). Significant advances in nursing science and research due to technology Nursing research needs to be an essential part of the scientific enterprise of improving patients care as well as the national health. A growing body of research is important for the provision of scientific evidence of the patient care and needs to be used by the nurses to improve on the care delivery to the patients. Over the recent decades, nursing research has been recognized as an independent body of knowledge (Hannah, Ball, & Edwards, 2006). Technology advancements in the discovery of new and improved techniques and machinery have greatly boosted the field of research in the nursing career. New and improved machinery and equipment are now available to aid nurses in their research to improve patient care. Today new medicines have been developed to cure different conditions. Technology advancement through research has made it possible to diagnose various diseases that were difficult to diagnose in the later times. New diseases are being discovered every day with incased and advance of research made possible by the advanced technology. Diseases like HIV/AIDS that have no cure, through research, it is possible to reduce the associated effects and management has been made easy by the advanced technological research (Bonato, 2010). At the dawn of the 21st and long awaited millennium, nurse’s researchers and educators face a rapidly changing health care landscape. This includes shifting the patient demographics, explosion of the advanced technology and globalization in healthcare in additional to the myriad of the everyday challenges that they face. As the researchers, position themselves in meeting the challenges they need to understand the drivers that affecting patient care. “it is not necessary to be clairvoyant to determine the future and as well it is not possible to clearly interpret what has already occurred and determine the likely consequences of the happening” (Chope, 2008). However, it is important to note the significant contribution of research to the nursing career. What the future holds The growth and use of technology by nurse’s professionals and other health care providers is expected to increase especially the use of personal digital assessment tool. This will help in increasing memory capacity, help in gaining ability to add attachments as digital cameras and scanning devices as well as offering add-ons and multifunctional devices allowing clinicians to combine different software program and appliances to improve the patient care. According to Bonato (2010), increase in sophisticated decision support and information, needs to become a part of the nursing practice. This will result in better management of the patients as the information systems needs to give a guide on the context of problems being addressed on a patient and provide consistent information to care delivery. Many emerging technologies needs to change nursing practice in the coming decades. This involves the introduction of invasive and accurate tools for treatment and diagnosis, introduction of genetics to help in disease risk assessment, introduction of robotics to provide improved diagnostic abilities on patients as well as electronic health care systems as mentioned above to increase on medical administrative issues. Conclusion Technology incorporation in the healthcare sector needs to improve the administration of the medical set-up. Technology has improved in the recent days as new advances are being made in the nursing profession. Nurses have found that they have access to advanced software and devices that are making their jobs simpler and faster to complete as compared to the later days. The growth and use of technology by nurses and other clinicians is expected to rise in the future days ( Adeniran, Bhattacharya, & Adeniran, 2012). A growing body of research is important for the provision of scientific evidence of the patient care and needs to be used by the nurses to improve on the care delivery to the patients. The rapid growths evolving in information technology has already had a radical impact on the health care delivery system in the medical field. Thus advanced in technology has played an essential role in improving administrative issues in the healthcare centers thus improving on the patient care delivery systems. References Adeniran, R.
