TELECOMMUNICATIONS IN INFORMATION SYSTEM s Since we are aiming at providing a good care for our patients it will be necessary that we come up with a network design that will support the different locations for the dental care practice. This is also very important due to the ethical considerations that must be met while dealing with patients. We will need well secured protocols for our computers and information devices. In addition to this, it will be necessary that we identify network components and devices that shall be used in the offices which will be different from those used in the fields.

In connection to this, a network design diagram will be developed to show appropriately what how the configurations and transmissions will be done. In conclusion, this paper will analyze and discuss the advantages and provide recommendations for further improvement. 2. As already highlighted the information that will need greater protection is the patient’s information. Due to the mobility of 6 field managers, there will be needed to avoid exposing personal information to the public. This will require that the information is transmitted faster whenever necessary and it is not intercepted or hacked by anyone (Hansell, 2008).

Firewalls and security codes in addition to spam alerts will be provided to all the networking equipment to avoid loss of any information. In order to do this it will be important that the network is configured to the different geographical locations that the field officers will be working. However, it will be important that the field officers ensure that information protocols are observed to avoid leaking any information to the public. 3. Due to the differences in geographical locations of the offices and the mobile field officers a good Metropolitan Area Network will be necessary.

This will ensure that there is proper connection between the MAN and Local Area Network which will connect the five dental offices within the city (Curt White, 2012). MAN will be able to provide high speed disaster recovery system and real time transaction backup system in case of failure. MAN will also provide interconnections between corporate data centers and internet service providers, and support high speed connections among government, business, medical, and educational facilities. The backup will be necessary since the loss of a patient’s records could be a very detrimental factor in relation to patient’s treatment.

VPN connections will be necessary with regard to the remote connections from the computers to the mobile networks used by the field operators. Due to security reasons, the mobile operators will have to acquire permission from the VPN servers before accessing any information from the servers. This will be necessary because of the use of the public internet facilities such as wireless connections. Irrespective of this, the tunneling protocol option provided by the VPN means that all the data will be encrypted to keep away the hackers as well also ensure that information is safe while being transmitted from one place to another (McCollum, 2011). 4. The network diagram Topology Tree is used in eliminating loops and activate backup links 5.

One of the advantage of MAN connection will help in connection between MAN and LAN hence we shall only use one network. This convergence will ensure that internet access subscribers enjoy lower rates and faster connectivity. There is also the advanatage of high data transmission. MAN will also provide a good back up system for the patients so that they can easily access their information whenever necessary. VPN wil ensure that there is low cost of implementation. Moreover, the encryptions will ensure safe connections which will not be easily intercepted by any hacker.

This will provide the ethical confidence due to patients safety (Bardwell & Akin, 2005). 6. Mitigation to the risk involved will involve use of firewalls which will protect the machines from spams, viruses and hackers who would inyterfere with the data. In addition to this, a proper information security policy will have to be in place to ensure that antiviruses are up to date to ensure that latest viruses are dealt with. Passwords will also have to be changed regularly in order to ensure that security protocols are not jammed and interfered with.

With regard to ethical issues and complince with HPPA requirements, there is need for regular internal audits to ensure that patients information are kept security measures are in place. 7. In conclusion, MAN and VPN integration will assist in ensuring that the dental offices have access to secure and faster transmission of patients information whenever they need it. Moreover, the two technologies will ensure low costs of production hence economically efficient. References Bardwell, J., & Akin, D. (2005). .
