This study represents a study of the influence of offensive air support in modern warfare, representing a look into the various modes and operational facets that comprise this field of operations on the battlefield. The history of offensive bombing missions has changed as tactics and weaponry as well as aircraft and missions have progressed[1]. An example of the preceding is the abandonment of daylight bombing missions during World War II as a result of the heavy losses faced by Allied aircraft due to effective air defenses by Germany[2]. The historical examples to add impact to the focus of this study are almost inexhaustible. But the importance of the subject matter in terms of its implications as a part of events that impact us all, cannot be denied.
The study represents a look into the influence of offensive air support in modern warfare, the methodologies utilized in conducting the research are the foundational facets that contribute to the integrity of the study.
The aim of the research being utilized in this study is to delve into the following areas:
a). What is the historical concept of Offensive Air Support?
b). What are the characteristics and capabilities of modern aircraft and the air?
weapons?
c). What is the Joint Air Attack Team’s job in supporting air operations?
d). What is the way to provide the best Offensive Air Support?
e). What is the future of the Offensive Air Support role?
The preceding areas represent a means to look into the influence of offensive air support in modern warfare, as to its present state, how it morphed into this situation, and the future of offensive warfare.
The objective of the research is to uncover the answers and suppositions to the Aims of this study via the utilization secondary research methodologies. The study utilized combination of qualitative and quantitative research in combination with secondary sources. The combination of methodologies that utilized quantitative research to a lesser degree, thus aided in understanding key components of the question in terms of market occurrences, and historical facets. Secondary research represented the means via which this examination was conducted, as a result of books, journals, magazine articles as well as the Internet were invaluable in obtaining a broad cross-sectional source from which a balanced approach could be taken.
