1. I do not agree that RFID tags should be used to monitor human beings. While the argument exists that such a system could prevent child abductions or help us keep track of our pets and the elderly, these luxuries come at too great a compromise. Submitting to the use of RFID tags to track human beings as well as their behavior would be to wipe humanity clean of privacy…

Download file to see previous pages I enjoy living in a society where everything and everyone isn't monitored by a tracking device, but if we did I would choose the RFID tags because it has so many similarities to the society we live in now. The ability to track down packages as well as people would be very helpful. I do acknowledge the argument that it will allow people to do illegal stalking, but I'm sure that the system will balance itself out.
The RFID badges would play a major role in helping humans do things that took more manpower to do previously. RFID badges would play the role of a Global Positioning System (GPS) when traveling because you'd never be lost because your love ones or a traveling assistance service could locate your exact whereabouts. This technology is in many General Motor automobiles and customers seem to welcome the safety feature. RFID badges would assist in monitoring people within the prison system to make sure they don't successfully escape. Our current society has adopted the trendy cellular phone which carries a lot of our personal information and it's a form of a tracking device. Although with cell phones you can choose not to answer, but the point is that it can provide your location.
There are reasons why we should veer away from the idea of using RFID tags. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Radio Frequency Identification
...? Final Exam Harley-Davidson Radio Frequency Identification or other wise known and abbreviated as RFID, is a generic term that is used to describe a system that transmits the identity of an object or person, in the form of a unique serial number, that is exclusive to the item or person in question, wirelessly through radio waves. It falls under the category of Automated Identification Technologies. RFID is widely used and almost is a part of every sort of identification. Unlike the typical UPC bar code technology, it is not necessary to be in the physical proximity or line of communication to convey the data to the source. If Harley-Davidson is to install the RFID technology in its...

Radio-Frequency Identification
...? Radio-frequency identification (RFID) Introduction Radio frequency waves are used extensively in the development of many of the equipment and technologies. In the transmission of audio and video signals of different kinds, radio waves play an important role. Normal audio or video signals cannot travel longer distances and therefore these signals are superimposed with electromagnetic carrier waves which are capable of traveling longer distances. The process is called modulation and the resultant waves (carrier waves + audio/video waves) are called radio waves. Radio waves found to be useful in many other fields and...

...? Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Chip: Pros and Cons The technology has reached the greater heights with the influence of modernization. Radio frequency identification or RIFD is an advanced form of modern technological movement. RIFD is the method used to identify people or objects by collecting radio waves automatically from the subject of experimentation. The significant usages of RIFD are quite common in every sector. The business industry highly depends on this miraculous technology for many functions like collecting data and tracking machineries, containers, and other shipping goods. It is not merely businesses or trade that utilizes the...

IT - Radio Frequency Identification
...Management of Information Technology Introduction Radio Frequency Identification is into our daily life for nearly 15 years now in various forms and shapes though they started appearing since 1970s. RFID is a technique that is used to identify and authenticate specific people or object for the work it or he is going to do. RFID as a technology has seen many very effective applications that make it possible to track an asset over a limited area or the where about of a person over a limited area for easy contact. This saves huge quantum of money, time and effort. While on the one side, industries have been consistently reaping benefits of using RFID tags for monitoring and controlling production...

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
...Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) In the rapid advance of technology in the world of commerce, the RFID or the Radio-Frequency Identificationis one of the developments that have great potential due its essential functions. It is a chip that can store identification information of products, thus, its use is being considered in the market. Described as a modern barcode, RFID is a small gadget that can be detected from a distance of few meters. Another benefit is that digital inventory was made possible. It has great impact in the market because its advantages can be acquired with a relatively low price compared to the barcode, thus, there is a decrease in the cost incurred by retailers and manufacturers (RSA Security, 2004a... of...

...YOUR FULL YOUR RFID: The Next Wave Those who claim that Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is revolutionizing supply chain management (SCM) are not far off the mark. The technology is so innovative that many producers are scrambling to comply with retailer demands; but in the process, they are reaping the benefits associated with a more efficient SCM system. The concept behind RFID is simple; it is a code or other identifier on each item that carries details of the product, its price, origin, sell-by date and much more (Highham 23). At that point, the item "passes a gate or checkpoint, with a stationary antenna...a transmitter sends a burst of radio waves through the antenna to the...

Radio Frequency Identification Tags
...Security and Privacy Concerns Viruses Radio Frequency Identification tags are not spared from viruses. The viruses may come from a buffer overfloweven if the identification tags can hold information even if its memory is only about 114 bytes. The viral intrusion may also arise from SQL injections. These were proven by students of the University of Amsterdam. The researchers created an RFID virus which has the capability to replicate itself. This was done in a very short period of time; a few hours are enough to generate a virus fit for the chip's small memory capacity. They proved that the once-thought virus-safe RFID tags are prone to virus attack even if the memory seems too small to contain all the...

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology
...Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a technology that enables the electronic labeling and wireless identification of objects using radio frequency. The purpose of these technologies is to identify and track any thing ranging from people to goods. While a barcode requires line-of-sight scanning, and smart cards require physical contact with a reader, the advantage with RFID-tagged objects is that it can be identified at a distance. RFID systems are also faster and more secure than other Auto-ID technologies. Even though RFID technology is decades old, it is now becoming technologically...

Radio Frequency Identification Implications for the environment
...Radio Frequency Identification Implications for the environment RFID is an acronym which stands for the technology which incorporates identification based on frequencies of the same wavelength as radio waves. In the system of identification, it allows identification of objects which is dependent on a tagging system whose identification is automatic and based on the radiation emitted by the tagged object. In most instances, the identification entails a coded system which can either give a range of output depending on the nature of response that is anticipated by the users (Andy, 2006). This is one of the fundamental ways through which communication is made possible. The...
