After a resent restructuring, the company is known as AIC of which the European Aeronautics and Space Company EADS owns 80% and British Aerospace and Electrical System BEA owns the remaining 20%. The new EADS comprises; France's Aero spatial, German Daimler Chrysler Aerospace AG and the Spanish Government-owned CASA. During 1988 Airbus has the share of 16 per cent of the market, which rapidly increased to 37 per cent in 1996 (Dempsey & Gesell, 85). But however, Airbus has acquired over half of the whole market when it delivered 305 jets in 2003, 310 jets in 2004 and 400 jets in 2005 (Reuters, 9/8/2004). Starting form 1969, when Airbus' first aircraft, the A300B, was debuted in the Paris air show many firsts in the industry are produced by Airbus like the A300 in 1972, the first twin-aisle, twin-engine commercial jet, the A300FFCC in 1982, the first forward facing crew cockpit in commercial aircraft, the A320 in 1988, the first 'fly-by-wire' commercial aircraft, and the upcoming A380 slated for operation in 2006, the first four-aisle, double-decker commercial aircraft (Airbus, Our Advantages).

The Airbus Company currently offers four product families, which include twelve jets for passenger use and one model for freight use covering the 100 to 555 seat market. In more detail the Airbus products consists of; A300/A310 Family, A320 Family, A330/340 Family and the A380 Family (super jumbo) which has been delayed due to technical issues however, the first A380 aircrafts are due to be delivered to the customer airlines in 2007. The delay in production is likely to limit aircraft deliveries to nine in 2007 (from original estimate of 20-25). It has added that a shortfall of five to nine aircrafts deliveries in 2008 and around five aircrafts in 2009 could be expected compared to initial plans. (Airliner World, August 2006).
The company has over 2.200 aircrafts in service and employs 55,000 people from 85 different nationalities on their sites in France, Germany, Spain and United Kingdom. Over the past 30 years, we have mastered the art of creating effective teams of individuals with different nationalities, backgrounds and skills. The Boeing's history dates back to the Wright Brothers as William Boeing attended the first American air meet in 1910. He incorporated his airline manufacturing company in 1916 as the Pacific Aero Products Company, but it was changed to the Boeing Airline Company during 1917. Presently the Boeing Company is the largest aerospace company in the world, with its development mirroring the history of aviation and they have been the world leader in commercial flights for more than forty years.
