The National Basket Association (NBA) teams face several decisions in allocating salaries. The players of the NBA give out different values towards their various teams hence being worth of a different sum of money. The general managers of the NBA need to determine the manner of allocating salaries to their loyal players (Peeffer, 5). This issue though not documented, is one of the key factors that influence the team performance at the NBA. In this respect, this paper proposes research to investigate the causal effect of the NBA team’s salary dispersion, the degree of the team’s tacit understanding, team efficiency, and superstar player on team performance.
This study would involve a quantitative research design. The researcher will use all the data from Nba.com and espn.com. This type of data can be referred to as secondary data. In this context, secondary data refers to data that are not from the researcher’s sources (Peeffer, 6). This means that the researcher cannot boast of being the original collector or owner of secondary data. As is often the case, secondary data are not first-hand data but once the approach towards their collection is well conducted, the researcher can be assured of authentic data (Peeffer, 6). To ensure that there is authenticity, the researcher first shall develop a data log. The data log will involve a statement of all themes or topics that the researcher would wish to collect. Next, the researcher will form a list of sources including internet sources in which the data would be obtained. The researcher will then collect the sources and samples from the specific materials that are useful towards answering the research questions proposed. The researcher will make use of the quantitative reviews of the materials selected from the sources. This means that the researcher will not only gather information from the sources but also discuss the quotations by comparing ideas from different sources and drawing personal conclusions.
By the end of the study, data will be collected and analyzed through coding first and later through triangulation of the coded data. Descriptive techniques such as tables, charts, percentages and charts will then be used to present the analyzed data. Secondary data will also be used in the analysis of the causal effect of the NBA team’s salary dispersion, the degree of the team’s tacit understanding, team efficiency, and superstar player on team performance and a comparison will be made with already conducted studies on the same topic.
The obtained results will be compared with the given theories in the literature. This will give the researcher an insight into the causal effect of the NBA team’s salary dispersion, the degree of the team’s tacit understanding, team efficiency, and superstar player on team performance (Peeffer, 5). The key features of the NBA’s team management would be highlighted. Different applicable theories in the NBA team performance would be examined and discussed. Some similarities and differences in the proposed solution to the problem would be mentioned. Possible recommendations and interventions for change would also be highlighted. Read More
