Likert scales and their recognizable aspects and properties are galvanized with the aspiration of helping anyone engaged in research and professionals to understand factors, complexities, specifications and complex nuances that are fundaments of considerations whenever anyone given response format is employed, formed or analyzed. The Likert response format engages the use of the same level of skills, ability, theory and rigor that goes into all scientific and biomedical measures. These aspects are fundamental in research and educational requirements of all serious educational scholars and researchers as a principle of scientific measurement in all the virtual domains (Fisher, Weiss & Dawis 1968). This response format has several pros and cons, the pros include; the fact that it is the most widely applicable tool to be used in measuring attitude scientifically. The format is simple hence easy tom understand and therefore consistency in the responses given. In addition, the format creates results that can easily be relied on in terms of conclusions and recommendations, administration and interpretation (Fisher, Weiss & Dawis 1968). ...
ates a situation in which the responses cannot be easily relied upon reducing the intensity of the impacts hence inaccuracy of the responses (Fisher, Weiss & Dawis 1968). Open ended questions or interviews These questions are majorly designed to support the release of full meaningful answers using the subject’s own knowledge and feelings; it is the opposite of the closed ended questions. Open-ended questions normally begin with the words like ‘why’ or ‘how’ portray them not to be technically questions but rather statements seeking for responses. The mostly asked open-ended question is “How does this make you feel?” and its interrelated variations. This has been a famous cliche in a variety of field given its vast effectiveness (Kline 2005). Its advantages therefore include; it enables and facilitates gathering of detailed information since respondents are given enough space to openly give their full account of issues. While interviews can be employed in retrieval of data, open-ended questions are used for the clarification of what might be quite vital and important for a research exercise. The mode gives the respondents to give information of all kinds ranging from their feelings, understanding and attitudes towards a subject matter. The main setback with this mode is that it is time consuming to administer and interpret. It is as well quite rigid due to its requirement of a strict methodology (Fisher, Weiss & Dawis 1968). Correlation and Simple Linear Regression Correlation and regression are the mostly used techniques used in the process of investigating any relationship that may exists between any two quantitative variables. Correlation shows strength while regression is just a relating equation. Correlation is used to test for a linear relationship in ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
