If you have characters like Super Man, Wonder Woman, Batman, and many more as examples, then you are a part of numerous people that have this ideology. A hero’s definition is quite straightforward and does not necessarily mean a movie character, but they are great examples.

A hero is an individual that is idealized and admired by many people because of their courage, outstanding achievements, and excellent qualities. If you relate the definition with any movie character that many people love, then they would suffice as true heroes. However, heroes are not virtual characters as they are presented in ordinary life, and it can be you and me.

What characteristics count for one to be a hero? Heroism is defined by:

  • Being selfless, meaning that a person takes risks without expecting any material gain or satisfaction of their needs. If you have read the book “Grendel” by John Gardner, Beowulf is the ultimate hero of the story. He uses his unique traits to serve other people without expecting any material gain.
  • Anyone that leads by example is the ultimate hero, no matter the unique situation that they are in. They do all they can to help other people regardless of the cost.

In my life, the biggest hero is my mother. Even though she does not provide me with everything I desire, she sacrifices a lot to make sure that she takes care of my needs. Over time, my mother has molded me into a fantastic person and shows me how to be content with my personality. Without my mother’s guidance, whom I consider my biggest hero, I would not have the right direction. She is a great gift that I truly value, and she has molded me into the person I am today. My mother leads by example.
