My Autobiography Example

My name is Thiago Silva, and I was born on 15th July 1989 in San Paolo, Brazil. I was a third born child in a family of 4 — two brothers and two sisters. My father is Carroz Moreno, a medical doctor in one of the largest hospitals in the city. At the same time, my mother, Teresa Lopez, is a news reporter in a local news agency. I was named after my grandfather, who was a renowned football player.

Luckily for me, my early childhood was full of fun as I grew around an extended family. My father has only one brother, uncle Hames who is a military pilot. My grandfather always joked that he would like me to become a legend like he was among the locals. My grandmother, on the other hand, was a former nurse, and my grandfather was always fond of his wife. You can tell that they loved each other because they always traveled and did their house chores together. There is a saying that grandpa told me every time I went to visit them: 'Son, if you want to keep your queen around, help her out', though I did not know what he meant since I was too young. I still recall his words to the date.

I consider my early childhood as adventures, for both my parents were working. My dad is a medical doctor, made me develop a huge interest in medicine. Though my grandfather wanted me to be a footballer like him, I found it as not as fascinating as medicine was. I would amuse my dad by asking him a lot of questions about his work. There are times when dad is called late at night to attend a patient in an emergency. Later he comes home looking tired and worn out after several hours on doing surgery to a patient. I always admired his work as most of the time, we are called for an emergency. He is happy as he and his team are saving another patient's life.

Despite having a good family background and the right role models to follow, when I joined high school, I started hanging around with the wrong company of friends. We started misbehaving by bullying other students, skiping classes, and even not submitting my assignments on time. I was heading the path of distraction, and it did not go well even with my parents.

During this time, an incident that completely changed my life took place. I was suspended from school for a week, and the news of my suspension got to my grandparents. They planned a trip to visit us as my family had moved to Rio de Janeiro after my dad was posted in the country leading hospital. Since I was grandfather's favorite grandson, he had a point himself to come to speak to me personally. Unfortunately, as they are airborne, their plane developed a mechanical problem on air, and it crashed, killing all occupants, including my grandparents. The passing on of my grandparents hit me hard and made me feel responsible.

During their burial, my uncle proposed me to move in with him near the army headquarters and join the final year of high school there. The sudden death of my grandparents had made a toll on everyone, especially me since they wanted to talk to me about my bad behaviors. I dedicated my anger to any blame on books and promised myself to become the legendary surgeon or radiologist.

I was young, and I had time to turn everything around. I finished high school with the highest grade in the country that year. However, due to my young age, I could not join med school until I was 18. And to keep myself active, I joined a local football academy to enhance my talent as well. Did I say that I was a good footballer? My grandfather had always coached well since I could hold a ball in my small hands.

At the same time, I was working as a first aid volunteer in the neighborhood, and it makes me look forward to join the med school to become a radiologist surgeon. It is during this time when uncle Tim was promoted to the rank of the army commander, becoming the youngest officer to hold such a rank.

My uncle and I were friends, and he suggested me to join the army before entering medical school. Nevertheless, I was good at athletics, and I am fast-adaptive to new challenges. Before my grandfather passed on, he would tell me that I could become whoever I want as long I put my mind in it. Here is a good opportunity to acquire skills, and I was happy to be accepted in the Military Academy of Agulhas Negras, where I did basic army training, artillery, sports, and army medical fundamentals.

Finally, my time to join the career of choice was here. I had initially applied for several international and local institutions, my admission was accepted at Harvard med school, and I was excited since it was always the school of my dreams. Due to the military training, I had undergone, it was easier for me to adapt the life in the US despite my young age and the difference between the two worlds I knew.

Finally, I was in school, and I was working hard to become a radiologist surgeon shortly. One of my professors was a senior consultant at John Hopkins University hospital, and he encouraged me to work hard and perhaps join him there. It was always my dream to work in one of the best hospitals in the world, and this did not take long, for I was accepted at John Hopkins University as an associate surgeon.

At that time, I was the youngest doctor to hold such a title. It means spending a lot of hours on the theater performing surgeries to save patients' lives. The pay was going, and since I wanted to other medical challenges, I applied for a radiologist surgeon position at St. Thomas Hospital in London. I wanted to move there since I was a young boy and perhaps attend football games for my favorite premier league club, Arsenal. When my application was accepted, I was happy that I would not only be the head surgeon but also fulfilled my grandfather's wishes of stepping at the pitch of his favorite English club.

When I got to St Thomas University Hospital, it was time to roll up the sleeves and get down to work. I would spend many hours in the hospital that I even almost stopped counting the number of emergencies that I had to attend to. I could remember seeing my father whenever he left to attend a patient even when on leave, and here was finally doing the same thing.

I recall one surgical procedure that lasted for 20 hours when we attempted to separate two conjoined teens. As the leading radiologist surgeon, I was involved in the surgery, and due to hard word and endurance I had passed through med school and a military academy, I encouraged my team, and the operation was successful. The successful separation was becoming a top story worldwide as it had a lot of media coverage, and due to this, my income and influence raise to what I am today.
