The reflection will help to understand the findings. Reflection journal 1 In my own understanding, race is the concept whereby people and individuals come from different backgrounds. I have realized that many people behave the way they do because of the cultural backgrounds they come from. This is because individuals from different races behave differently from the people from other races. In my observation, I can identify that people of different races have different intelligent capacities. It can be determined that people initially were born with different behaviors and it is identified that people who were born long time ago were less intelligent but the current individuals tend to be more intelligent because of the interaction and integration of races. According to my own observation, the individuals who have interacted tend to be more intelligent because they exchange some behaviors. In this account, I can understand that race is important and every individual faces the racial situation once in lifetime because all people are born in a certain culture. From the background of my culture, race is something that is genetic. This implies that there is genetic determinism which reflects the background where the individual comes from. This means that race influences the determination and positivity of an individual. At some point life in time, individuals belong to certain race implying that they behave according to the race where they come from. As a result, the culture and genetic determinism of individuals in the society are influenced by the racial background. In this effect, the race influences the culture of the people in the society. In my own reflection, I can say that race has value in the society. In the first place, race helps to shape the behavior of the people in the society. The race of the people constitutes of the culture of the individuals in the society and this means that culture is important in shaping the behavior of the individuals in the society. It is important to note that all people who belong to the same culture like races they behave the same way. For instance, the Indian culture is well known for doing business because of the culture they inherit from their race. However, to some extent different races can lead to racial discrimination and this can affect the relationship among individuals in the society. In this context, race can have value in the society. In addition, race has value in the society because it influences the genetic components of people. In my own opinion, it is evident that people inherit genetic factors which make up the individual intellect. In this way, the race is important because it helps to influence the intellectual property of the individuals because it is known that there are some races like the whites who are known to be clever than the black people. This means that race has value in the society. However, there are those who belief that race leads to racial discrimination and this means that race has negative value in the society. Reflective journal 2 National culture is the system of behavior which is inhibited by individuals who have the same behaviors and beliefs. In any organisation, the employees come from different backgrounds and it is important for the management of the organisation to ensure that there is organizational culture which can accommodate the different employee backgrounds. In Australia, there is national culture which influences the way people behave the way they do. All the people of Australia have almost the same behavior because of the national culture which they inhibit. The first characteristic of the national culture in Australia according to my observation is that the people have the culture of individualism. From my own perception, I think the people of Australia would like to be treated as individuals and not groups. This is because I see most people working hard so that they cannot be dependent on others. Therefore, the national culture of Australia is that people approach things through individualism meaning that each individual wants to be independent and in this way the national culture in Australia encourages hard work. The other characteristic of Australian national culture is that I see people being treated with equality. All the Australian people have the understanding that al people should be treated with equality in terms of rights and justice. The culture of Australia is that all people have equal rights in the society and this means that the understanding of the culture is that all people have all equal rights. For instance, in my own observation the male and female people treated equally in the society and from this I think all people understand the culture of people and this promotes equality. On the other hand, I just witnessed people discussing things openly and there are no people who hide things. From this implication, I can see that there is the national culture of openness. The people of Australia have the culture of doing things openly when there is need to discuss issues especially in meetings. All the nationals understand that things should be done with directness meaning that there is openness culture among the Australian people. The implication is that all people have equal rights in the society. However, there are some issues which should not be discussed openly because they are sensitive and they should not be disclosed to unauthorized individuals. Furthermore, there is a culture of tolerance in Australia. I just recently saw in a meeting that all people are respected and treated with dignity. However, there are few individuals who do not have the culture of respect and dignity since they come from different backgrounds. For instance, the individuals with disabilities were treated with equality and dignity and they were not looked down upon. In terms of punctuality, I saw all people arriving and leaving work at the right time. In this effect, I can conclude that there is national culture in Australia which has influenced the behavior of the Australians. Reflective journal 3 The colonization of Australia led to various discrepancies between the aboriginal and non-aboriginal Australians. According to my observation, I can see that the colonization of the people of Australia has led to either positive and negative impacts on the culture of the people of Australia which has affected the life expectancies of the people. In the first place, the colonization of Australia introduced some diseases to Australia which affected the life expectancy of the people. This is because the non-aboriginal Australians introduced diseases like chickenpox and smallpox which are infectious. In my observation, the introduction of these diseases has led to the decrease in the life expectancy of the people. This is because these diseases have even spread faster in the aboriginal communities leading to discrepancies between aboriginal and non-aboriginal Australians. In addition, I noticed that the colonization led to introduction of schools and better clothing as well as foods. This is because the introduction of the new resources helped to improve the living standards of the people of Australia. This led to increase in life expectancy of the Australian people. However, there are some aboriginal communities which preserved their way of living and this led to discrepancies between the aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities. The effect of retaining the traditional way of life is decreased life expectancies in those communities. In my own observation I can also notice that after the colonialism, the discrimination and racism were replaced with better policies. The assimilation policy was adopted by the aboriginal Australians since they leant to understand the ne cultures from the colonialists. From my culture, the people have abandoned their old ways of doing things and have adopted new culture after colonialism. For instance, the people have developed positive attitude towards each other meaning that there is equality in the community. The national culture has developed and has promoted equality. I recently witnessed people holding meetings openly and discussing things openly which was not the case initially. This implies that people have the national culture of openness. In addition, my observation shows that the people of Australia after colonization developed multicultural diversity. This is because during colonialism, the new ways of doing things were introduced to Australia people meaning that multicultural diversity was practiced. This can be indicated by the economic developments which have been experienced and improved living standards of the people of Australia. For instance, the levels of education have increased in Australian because I witnessed new farming ways and in this way I think the land of Australia has been utilized effectively. The impact is that there were discrepancies between the aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities due to land differences. In this regard as I stated earlier, colonization of Australia has led to discrepancies between the aboriginal and non-aboriginal Australians. Conclusion This reflection discussed the concepts of reflection on various issues. The first reflection was about race and its value while the second reflection was about Australian national culture.
