From this paper it is clear that the author's parents taught him that if he wanted to be successful in life, he had to avoid being angry for failing to accomplish a task and instead, teach himself that every goal takes time to be achieved. The reporter has been able to apply patience in most of his life experiences and he has seen its benefits. Kindness is a value that he learned from his father which he admit; it has been difficult sometimes to keep up with it. In most cases, he would observe his father express kindness to neighbors regardless of whether they responded with racist remarks.

Just to mention, the author is an Iranian-American by origin and he has experienced a moment when he was discriminated due to his race. In regard to his father’s episode, he remained kind to others; something that made him earn respect and perpetrators of the racism feel ashamed. On the value of kindness, the author believes that he has taken after his fathers’ character. This essay declares that the above values he has mentioned greatly influence his life, especially in his day-to-day activities.

In fact, the reporter believes that patience is one of his values which is well cultivated in his search for jobs. I realize as a woman, it can be challenging to get a job in society where women are not empowered in gender equality. Nonetheless, he has been patient while applying for jobs until he finally got employed.
