From the analysis provided, I could relate the facts put across in the essay and the actual occurrences in the present world. This made it possible for me to easily relate to what the author was talking about in the essay.

From the list of essays that were studied and analyzed throughout the term, the one that I least responded to was “Shadows on the Wall” by Ewen and Ewen. In the essay, the author talks about how individuals traverse the world to transform their lives and fulfill various personal desires. The journey is not usually an easy one as it entails going through treacherous roads, unpredictable weather as well as turbulent political changes. Even though the author has effectively tried to put across his aides, I still found it difficult to respond to this particular essay due to the complex structure which was used. Moreover, the essay is very detailed, and following up on each of the issues or phenomena being addressed is not easy.

“Change the World” by George Packer is an essay that addresses the changes that have taken place in the American technology sector. It talks about how the various players in the industry engage with society and the movement. Packer argues that in the initial years of the technology revolution, major players in the technology industry were too obsessed with coming up with solutions to various challenges without thinking of how they can also positively impact the well-being of the general population (par 6). The government was taken to be an enemy of the sector. Very few companies were engaging in political activities and philanthropy. The essay goes ahead to show how things have changed with technology entrepreneurs such as Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin showing a lot of interest in philanthropy work and political initiatives (Packer par 12).
I believe that Packer has effectively addressed the transformation which has occurred over the years.

Such trends made it impossible for entrepreneurs to think of other ways through which they can transform people’s lives. I believe that the changes addressed by Packer in the essay have positively impacted the well-being of American citizens. The claims made in the essay by the author are also true considering the present trends in which most people who have made fortunes through technology have dedicated a large portion of their wealth towards ensuring the wellbeing of the public. I also agree with the author that such trends need to continue. When it happens, the wealth generated from various entrepreneurial startups will not only benefit a selected few but the entire American population.
