Sociology Question Florence is under the influence of substance abuse. The issues that Florences faces include the following; Separation from her two children. The two children are in foster care and therefore she does not have contact with them. The oneness caused by the absence of her kids causes psychological torture. She may, therefore, end using the substance in order to forget the problem There is limited time for the interaction with her two kids. She only visits them twice a month. This limited time weakens the parental-kid bond. She was in jail for many years. She was separated from her friends, family and close associates while in jail. Currently, she is in a probation centre. According to the issues discussed above, Florence has a history of substance abuse because she has developed a craving for them. The material transforms ones brain changing how it works. The influence of the material causes lack of interest in the activities that a person used to enjoy. One significant result of substance abuse is poor relationships with families. The fact that her children are in foster care shows that she has no interest in them. The influence of the drugs has destroyed the parent - child bond. The loneliness that Florence has suffered could also be the cause of the addiction. The separation from her kids as well the separation from friends and families could have stimulated to the abuse. On the other hand, Florence has been able to maintain her job for five months. Substance addicts tend to have problems at work because of failure to obey rules and regulations. The reason that she has kept her job for five months is clear evidence that the process of recovering from the substance abuse is progressing (Lewis, Dana& Blevins, 2009). The primary role of a social probation worker is to supervise offenders, during and after their trials. A probation social worker should turn away the offenders from committing more crimes. In the case discussed above, as a socials probation worker, I would make sure that the client does not commit the same offence again (Zastrow, 2010). I will assess the progress of her behavior and challenge her in a positive way. More so, I would provide programs and special support to make them law abiding citizens of the country. It is my work to integrate the offenders in the community by including them in community building programs. In addition, I will also offer counseling to the offenders and their families. As a social worker, I would recommend the client to seek more assistance from Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DHS) 4650 agency. Question 2 The second clients have the following issues  Insufficient income  A job that does not have comprehensive health coverage.  A child is born with medical complications that are cerebral palsy.  Financial problems. According to the issues indicated above, the family suffers from economic problems that make it difficult for them to acquire medical help their child (Geralis, 1998). As a social worker for the OC Helpline, I would recommend the family to visit the Children & Youth Behavioral Health (CYBH) IN California. The organization provides varied services for emotionally, behavioral or mental disordered children (Velleman&Aris, 2008). Question 3 In the third vignette, the client faced with the following issues;  Driving under the influence (DUI) for six months.  Failure to accept that she has a drinking problem  Lack of awareness of her initial DUI offence The issues mentioned earlier could be as a result of overworking. According to the information given in the vignette, the client works for a maximum of 50 to 60 hours in a week. The average working hours per week should be 48 to 50 and not more. The act of overworking ones brain affects how it works and could bring out some side effects such as forgetfulness. The fact that the client forgets her first offence could be due to the result of overworking plus the effects of alcohol. Moreover, the client holds a reputable position in her son’s school and her husband is a lawyer. Being in that position, she could have committed the offence willingly knowing that she cannot go to jail. She supports this idea denying having a drinking problem. Question 4 In the fourth vignette, the subject encounters the following issues;  Separation from his wife.  Lack of a child after two years of marriage.  An alcoholic wife who has refused to get help for the problem.  An alcoholic brother who happens to be living in the same area. From the information indicated in the case above, Mike suffers psychologically due to marriage issues. His marriage had failed and at the same time they were not able to get a kid. The separation of the couple could be as a result of medical complications in either of the partner. It could also be due effects of alcohol on the client’s wife (Hannigan, Spear &Goodlett, 1999). As a social worker, I would urge the client and his wife to seek some medical advice. In addition, I would the client to persuade his wife and convince her to seek some assistance for her drinking problem. Lastly, I would ask the client to convince his brother to seek some counseling. The client’s wife and his brother should seek some advice from Top Laguna Hills Addiction Recovery Centers. The helpline of the centre is 1-844-268-5932. The agency helps victims recover alcohol and substance abuse as well as from their behavioral disorders. Question 5 The fifth client has the following issues;  Old age. The man is 94 years old.  The man lives alone.  He does not take care of himself.  He consistently walks out of the emergency room looking for medicine and food. According to these issues, the man’s behavior could be as a result of his loneliness or old age. The man is 94 years old meaning he is ancient, and that could be the cause of his moving up and down the emergency room (Olson, 2001). The man should consider going to Santa Ana Senior Care.
