According to Scott, effective photographing does not require any lectures (Scott, 2013). A good photographing session simply requires focus, creativity with the zoom lens and other special features of the digital camera. She evokes the conscience of photographers reading her piece, not just because she is a professional photographer and has several years of experience, but because in her own words, "I want you to shoot where I answer your questions directly, advise you, and share with you the secrets I have learned over time because you are my friend” (Scott, 2013).

In this regard, she makes the whole process of photographing a casual process. Forget about the rigorous steps, discussion in theory. She introduces a practical approach to photography, not wanting to confuse photographers or would-be photographers with technical explanations of "techie" photo talk. In other words, Scott deviates from the theoretical approach to photographing but instead adopts a pragmatic approach that is detailed using real-life examples and on-location shoots. The Digital Photography Book, Part One, 2nd Ed.

is a book that tackles the issue decisively. It shows what button to push, which setting to employ, and under what circumstances to apply them. Scott avails at least 200 narrowly guarded photographic clues of photography. This book makes shooting a relaxed process. After reading the book and applying the tricks, photographers will be able to capture sharper, high quality, more professional, and more colorful photos each time (Scott, 2013). Perhaps what makes the book more elaborate and easy to understand is the fact that each page covers a unique concept about how to make photography better.

Every time one flips through the pages, they learn another tool, pro set, or trick on how they can transform their efforts from snapshots to gallery prints. Overall, Scott offers an informative and practical approach to photography.
