According to Barthes, it would take him “a History of Looking” (Barthes 12) in order to make a rational analysis and in so doing, Barthes tries to take into consideration the basic roles of subjectivity and emotion in the accounting and experience of photography. The irreducible singularity possessed by an image or a photograph defines the essential nature of photography’s subjective experience. Barthes defines the job of a photographer as one who makes truth permanent.
