I was quick to respond and told them that we had not seen such a person. The officers insisted that the man ran towards our house and that he might be hiding in the compound. Knowing of the threat that the man gave us, I told the officers to search within the compound because, apparently he had not entered the house. My mother was dumbfounded as she quietly watched and listened to me as I lied to the officers. Although I tried to calm myself as I lied, tears poured and one could tell that even if I convinced the officers that no man had entered the house, there was something wrong with my story.

I was shaking and stammering as I explained to the officers. During that moment, one of the church elders that had visited my mother stared at me with astonishment written all over her face. She was my church mentor. After they finished searching the compound, one of the officers said that if we happen to have information about the man to call the police and give out the information. In addition, another officer said that we should be aware that if we are found to have concealed the information about the man we would be charged in a court of law for conspiracy and abstracting justice.
