Adolescents Socio-Emotional Changes and Family Systems - Essay Example

The given adolescent may have a negative view of the distant or disliked family members and infer lies or make false accusations. This can result in disagreements, disharmony, and conflict between the family members that the given adolescent enjoys the close relationships and those they have distant relationships. A good manifestation of the impact of negative socio-emotional changes of adolescents on the family system involved one of my friends whose condition resulted in disagreements between the parents.

As an adolescent boy who lived mostly with the mother as the father worked far from home but paid regular visits to the family, the mother handled the boy softly. The boy became hot-tempered and preferred violence and aggression in solving his problems. Later, the father transferred to a workplace near home so that he lived with the family. On realizing the behavior of the boy, the father began disciplining the friend so that he might change and know how to manage his problems effectively. The discipline involved punishments and talks, which the mother interpreted as inappropriate (Kail & Cavanaugh, 2013).

The conflict caused by the difference in views of the parents concerning the boy’s condition led to divorce and the adolescent moved to live with the mother. In another instance, an adolescent girl who was also the only child from a neighboring family developed discriminative socio-emotions against her auntie. The girl unreasonably hated the aunt would make false accusations of abuse against the aunt when the parents return from work. Considering the high level of attention towards the girl, the parents were not ready to accept any defense or argument of the aunt.

This created a bad relationship between the girl’s parents and the aunt who was a sister to the father. The situation worsened and the parents sent the aunt away. Consequently, the nuclear and extended family including the girl’s grandfather and uncles blamed the parents for being indecisive.
